Alstair Sparkdale, Human Wizard Character Sheet
Now now, Brock. Im sure the man didnt mean to insult you. Perhaps you should at least give him a head start, eh? Alstair Sparkdale was born in the town of Upper Landsend in Dor, son of the Keeper of the Landsend Inn. Unlike his three brothers, Alstair was born gangly and weak. He was a total mismatch for the usual Dorian build of stocky and strong. However, his features still have that distinct Dorian cast. Alstair tried to match his brothers during the early part of his childhood. He learned to ride, and tried his hand at weapons training. After a serious riding accident in his eleventh year which ruined his back for life, Alstair turned most of his efforts to matters of the intellect. In the fall of his thirteenth year, a Mage named Melicat stopped overnight in Upper Landsend on his way to Tor-Beldrin. Impressed by the intelligence of the Innkeepers frail son, Melicat cast an unobtrusive spell and was pleased to see the Calling in the young mans aura. Melicat called the lad to his room after sup, and spoke with him about spells and power. Alstair was disbelieving at first, but at Melicats urging applied himself to a small spell. Two hours later, Alstair had performed his first Act of Magic. It was only a puff of smoke and a few sparkles, but it was enough for Alstair. The next day he bid farewell to his family and left for a new life of mystery with Melicat. Alstair spent ten years as Melicats apprentice. He travelled all over the Western Empire and learned many things of magic and life. Melicat died two years ago. His parting gift to Alstair, his last apprentice, was an enchanted knife that Melicat himself used as a young Mage. Melicat bid Alstair good fortune with his last breath. Shortly after Melicats death, Alstair met Brock the Fierce, recently discharged from the Imperial Legions. The two soon became fast friends over a few flagons of ale, and have been companions ever since. |
