| GIRLS MAKE A DIFFERENCE PRESENTS : "CHANGE THE WORLD" WORKSHOP Dear educators: Girls Make a Difference (GMAD) announces a special one-day workshop to be held this fall called "Power Girl: Make a Difference." Girls ages 9-14 will learn how to make a difference in their communities and "change the world" as GMAD teaches them how to hold food drives, start awareness clubs (for the environment, endangered species, hunger, etc.), start petitions, and more! Each participant will receive a "Change the World" packet. |
The philosophy of Girls Make a Difference is that girls can and do make a difference ~ to themselves, fellow girls and the world. Girls can accomplish anything they put their minds to. Girls Make a Difference (GMAD) started out in 1999 as a series of writing and creativity workshops that focused on building self-esteem and encouraging pre-adolescent and adolescent girls to express themselves. It is based on a book creator/director Minda Powers wrote specifically for the program. Now almost four years later GMAD is expanding all the time as a ten-week workshop series, single workshop days, special events (such as Turn Beauty Inside Out Day), meetings and opportunities for girls and people of all ages. The program is currently located in Rock Island, Illinois, and may soon be heading to Iowa. |
