Steps for using a finger labyrinth and why they work!
The steps used when working with a finger labyrinth are the same for all outcomes desired.
How do I start?

Place the finger labyrinth on your lap or a table top, place your right hand along the edge making contact and steadying the labyirnth.

A)   Place the tip of your pointer finger (which ever finger feels comfortable) of your LEFT hand in the groove at the entrance of the labyrinth.

B)  Close your eyes

C) Take several Mindful Breaths -
breathe in slowly to the count of three or four
breathe out slowly to the count of three or four

D)           1.  if you are using this as a meditation tool, you may wish to state
your intention for  this activity (I am at peace, I am calm) or
you may wish to repeat a mantra  (silently) or say a prayer.

               2.  if you are using this as a problem solving tool, you may wish to
state question you are trying to answer (How do I let my inner
light shine and be a  good example to others?).

E)  Slowly move your finger along the groove.  Remember that this is not a game, there is no reason to rush through the activity. As you progress through the labyrinth pay attention to your breathing.

F)   When you reach the center, stop for a few moments.  This may be a good time to take a few intentional mindful breaths, you may wish to state your intention or mantra out loud or repeat your prayer or question while you are at the center.

G)   When you are ready, begin traveling the path back to the entrance.

H)  When you reach the entrance, before removing your hand from the labyrinth, take a moment to reflect, you may again wish to state your intention, mantra, prayer or question aloud.
How does this work?

The combination of mindful breathing and the carefully planned turns of the labyrinth have been found to stimulate the right side of the brain.  This is the area of the brain where peace, serenity, realaxation and creativity originate.
