Japanese Animation!!!

I grew up on this stuff, instead of Disney and Garfield.  I don't really keep track of Japanese animation, I just like this stuff, and I hear about the new stuff from friends.

Go on to read what I wrote about KOR and others that I like...
Go on to read my random babble about anime...

My all time favorite is KOR (Kimagure Orange Road)!
It is about this guy who just moved to the neighborhood and he has ESP.  Then he got in the middle of the friendship of these two girls.  He likes both of them because they are both special and different from each other.  Both of those girls like him too, but only one shows people that she likes him.  He's torn between two lovers, so to speak, and in the end I think he has to choose one of them (I never saw the end of the series, and one of these days I will. REALLY!!!! (I have been saying that for years, literally. sigh.)) The reason why I like this show so much is because they have really cool drawings; the soundtrack is great, and there are a lot of interesting things that happen to all three of them at school. Of course, Ayukawa is the best!  It is a very cool series.  KOR is created by Izumi Matsumoto.  However, there are a lot of spin offs after his creation.  I personally think that the series the best.

Other shows that I like include:
Touch--It's this series about this pair of twin brothers.  One, I think it's the older twin, tries to let the other one shines, and purposely makes himself look bad.  Then there's this girl who lives next door that they both like, but of course, the older twin pretends that he doesn't' like the girl so the other brother can have everything.  But then, one day, the younger twin got killed in a car crash, so the older twin now is encouraged by people, and he picked up where his brother left off.  He starts to play in the school baseball team and do really well academically, which were things that the younger twin was doing, and the older twin is capable of doing but tries to hide his talents. And about him liking the girl, well, I guess I shouldn't spoil the story here. (I used to go home after school and watch this everyday.)  Click here for more about Touch.

Macross and Robotech--Well, actually my brother was into it. It is about these spaceships and space fighters trying to protect the earth.  Then of course, there are some personal stories about family and romance of the space fighters.

Hayao Miyazaki Animation--

Laputa--This one is a movie about the legend of a city in the sky with treasures. There are pirates who want to steal the treasures.  There is this girl who is supposed to be the heir of this legendary city.  Then there is this guy who tries to be the ruler of the city. Click here for more about Laputa.

Grave of the Fireflies--This is a movie about these two kids -- an older brother and a little sister -- trying to survive a war in Japan. p; It is quite a sad story, but the drawings are very realistic.  Click here for more about G of F or here for a movie review.

Totoro-- This is a movie about this fantastic creature that kind of looks like a big cat.  This fantastic creature is taking these two sisters around the country sides and having a good time. ( I don't remember much of the details now...) Click here for more about Totoro.

Nausicaa (Valley of the Wind)--This is a movie about something like the world is so polluted that people have a hard time living in it,.  However, there was supposed to be legend to save them from all the misery, and that gives the people hope to live on.  in the mean time, there are these huge bugs running around that could easily run you over and kill you.  It's just a story about how people survive under all these obstacles. Great drawings!  Click here for more on Nausicaa.

Princess Mononoke--This is a movie about something like the world is so polluted that people have a hard time living in it,.
