Preparations for the Exhibition

An exhibition is held in conjunction with the book collection drive to raise the awareness of the this issue - the lack of access to an English-based education in developing countries to NUS students and the public.

Book Collection Drive at NUS Science Foyer, 23 - 24 September 2002

The collection drive cum exhibition was launched at NUS Science foyer from 23 - 24 September 2002 and at the Faculty of Arts outside the Computer Center from 25 - 26 September 2002.

Book collection drive at Bishan Community Club, 29 September 2002

We appeal to 2,000 households of Bishan East and North for donations of books and a collection drive cum exhibition was held on Sunday, 29 September 2002 at the Bishan Community Club in conjunction with a Children Day's party

Operation and Logistics

We formed our project committee on 23 August and had our first project meeting on 4 September. 

The collected books at NUS were stored temporarily in the Medical Society office and were later transported to Bishan Community Club.

We distributed over 2,000 brochures to the residents of Bishan East and North to inform them of our book collection drive.

We collected nearly 600 books and magazines at the end of the collection drive. They will be stored at Bishan Community Club till our exploratory trips to Myanmar and Cambodia at the end of the year.
