Euchres Plagued!

Even the lowest scoring games have drama of their own. That was the makeup of the then 1-0 Providence Plague took on newcomer Cranville Echres (0-1) in a Venus Division battle. Both had surprising games last week and the pregame talkshows had this game handed to the Euchres by a landslide over the low scoring Plague.

After Thursday's games, Cranville looked like they had the game wrapped up after a 59 point day and lead the Plague by about 80. Providence had different plans. Over the weekend, the Plague slowly chipped away at Cranville's lead knocking it down to around 30 going into the last day. The Plague finally killed off it's prey by posting a monster 67 points to beat the Euchres 204-190. The Loss drops pre-season favorite Cranville to 0-2 and two games back in the Venus Division.

"Her (Libzie) team played well, its takes a bit more to come back after 4 injured players," Owner Angela stated at a press conference after the game, "Once Teixeria and Berroa get off their lazy bums and realize its not time to relax and claim faux and weak injures we can get on to winning the Venus like all you so-called experts claim we will." The Euchres will face the other 0-2 team, Wisconsin, next in the battle of the winless.

The surprising Plague, starting out 2-0 despite ranking 10th in points scored, are feeling relieved after their slow start failed to hurt their chances on the season. "As long as I'm 2-0 and those (bleep)'in Wannabes are 0-2, the world is a happy place", the Plague Manager stated after being drilled as to why their pitching has been costing them points in the first two weeks of the season. The Plague will have their will tested as they face the dominating Rocko Leopards next in week 3.

Seattle 318, Michigan 155
Seattle took the lead in the Mars Division thanks to a dominating performance over the defending Champs. The Skunks lead every day of the week, except one. The Twinkies became desperate halfway through the week and started dumping extra injured batters in order to boost points with starting pitchers. By the end of the week, that strategy completely backfired as the new pitchers cost the Twinkies over 50 points. Michigan's Managers came under enormous fire after leaving ace pitcher Halladay on the bench for his game against the Detroit Tigers. Michigan looks to rebound against the 0-2 Dundee Hillbillies, and Seattle looks to go 3-0 in the Mars Division against Hummels Wharf.

Chicago 253, Atlanta 198
The top point scorer in the short season did not have an easy time for most of the week trying to put the lowest scoring franchise away. Atlanta was able to hang with the first place team, staying withing striking range most of the week. However, the Force owner's big mouth which has been quieted with his poor start was not able to propell him to victory this week. Maybe next week when Atlanta takes on Pluto rival Maimi. Chicago looks for the Pluto sweep when they take on the Funky Monkies of Guam.

Hummels Wharf 324, Dundee 237
The Braves rebounded in strong fashion after a disappointing loss to Michigan in week 1. Dundee also provided a nice jump after a slow week one, but wasn't able to combate Hummels Wharf's strong bats. The Hillbillies hope that their new pitchers like M. Maroth to provide a spark to give them a chance in the strong Mars Division. Dundee's next task is to take on the defending champs, Michigan, and hope their winning ways start in week 3.

Rocko 284, Wisconsin 180
Another lopsided victory, a surprising one for the Leopards who improve to 2-0 over the defending Venus Division Champion. The Wannabes were cursed in the pitching department again for the second straight week, while the Leopards seem to be getting all the right breaks. Rumors abound that franchises in other fantasy leagues are starting to inquire about retaining the services of Rocko's skipper. Is it a fluke? We may find out when the Leopards take on Providence for the division lead in week 3.

Miami 260, Guam 237
The Hustlers were going back and forth with Guam all week, while still maintaining a comfortable lead over the Funky Monkies. Even going into Sunday night, the Monkies needed 60 more points than Miami to secure the victory. It almost happened. During the Angels-Athletics game Sunday night, Guam took the lead over the Hustlers, but an ill-timed HR given up by starting pitcher Escobar cost the Monkies their second win. Hustler fans were rejoicing after the game, thankful that their strong start yielded at least one win. Miami lost week 1's Game of the Week despite ranking 3rd in points scored. Miami takes on fantasy mate, Atlanta in week 3 to try and improve to 2-1 on the season in their bid to be the first champion of the Pluto Division.
