Chicago Lights It Up
The series started out in the historic Wrigley Field, home of the Cubsbartmen, for three games. The pitching wasn't stelar on either side of the field in game one as both pitchers gave up homeruns to make their stats medocre at best with Miami taking the early lead. The second day, Chicago rode a huge day out of J. Beckett and even got a few homeruns out of the wood to jump into the lead on the week. Miami responded in the third game at Wrigley by just outstanding pitching from Zito and Webb to post a week high 80.5 points. When the Chicago-Miami series shifted south to Big Pimp'n Ballpark, so did Miami's lead over Chicago. The Cubsbartmen responded Thursday night when Vazquez just shut down Miami 48-1 and taking a 3 point lead in the series. Day two in Miami was a high scoring affair on both sides. The Hustlers were lead by an oustanding pitching performance from Miller and Chicago had a good day with the wood, cranking three homeruns. When the weekend started these two teams were deadlocked 199-196. Chicago exploded Saturday from a 10 K performance out of B. Sheets and just about everyone posting positive points. With the game so close and seeing pitchers costing other teams in the league costing huge points, Jay benched Buehrle and his 26 points because he was pitching against the Yankees. Miami has a great start to the weekend also, but just couldn't match the points of Chicago despite the two homeruns from Rolen. Chicago's lead grew to 34 points heading into Sunday's games. The Maimi fans went home disappointed Sunday night despite another strong outing from their Hustlers. Oswalt and Santana both pitched well for the Hustlers and even got three homeruns of support to finish the series with 58 points on the day and the third best score of the week. However, one of the teams above them were the Chicago Cubsbartmen who had another amazing day in Big Pimp'n Ballpark. Beckett's second start of the series was even better than the first, going seven innings with 11 K's. The Cubsbartmen finished with a league high 338 points on the week and took the early lead in the Pluto Division.
Next week in all division matchups: Miami (0-1) takes on Guam (1-0) who is fresh off a victory over Atlanta. Chicago (1-0) looks to keep Atlanta (0-1) at the bottom of the standings as they face off. The race for the Pluto Crown is just starting to heat up.
