As a Tuberculosis Specialist I've had the chance to travel a lot.
Having reached the top of my career in Italy I decided to work for several years in the North West Frontier Province (NWFP) of Pakistan, running a Tuberculosis Control Program for Afghan Refugees and the local population. NWFP is an arid mountainous area four times the size of Switzerland with a population of 20 million people and more than two million Afghan Refugees.
The world I found there is quite different from anything we are used to in the West.
I found poverty and riches, friendship and caring in this wonderful new world. I hope my photos give an inkling of insight into how much I loved Pakistan. |

I am married to Mary, my best friend, she is also a Doctor, a Specialist in Tropical Medicine and International Health. She has been with me everywhere and she worked voluntarily in Pakistan for Afghan Widows and their children and the local poor for many years. |
