| My earliest school days that i vivdly remember are the ones at Bright House. This was a temporary facility my school G.K. Shetty Hindu Vidhyalaya hired for the KG classes. While the two bedrooms of the house formed the two sections A & B of the LKG class, the Hall was the play room with lots of toys. I was in section A. The house had a garden on the right side and was our playing ground. I think we were approximately 20 students (rather kids) in our section and roughly about the same in the other section too. I used to always fight with my friends to get the seat near the window. While those were life or death fights then, now while recollecting them, i only laugh. I had some good childhood friends who grew up with me in the school through all the classes. Those days my father used to come to the school to pick me up in the evening. It was a Lambrada scooter my father had and i used to stand in the front, struggling to look around, as i was shorter than the level of the handle bar of the scooter. I don't as much remember the going to the school in the morning as i remember leaving it in the evening. Then we were moved to another hired facility opposite to our actual school campus. I don't remember or was never bothered why i was moved to another hired facility....there was some construction work going on in the school that time....perhaps! Then atlast, for my 1st std (i think) we entered the actual school campus. The school was a very small one with thatched roofing. The primary section of the school was conducted in that campus and there was a bigger campus few hundred meters away from this one which held the higher sections ( 6th to 12th). When ever we were led to the bigger school, we used to take it as some excursion and enjoy the whole 200 mts walk chatting with friends, but maintaining our files in twos. Then came the big day i was shifted to the big school....now i was a grown up....i was in 6th std. In essence, my whole school life was confined to that school that was few hundred meters away from my home. So, for 14 long years, i knew only two things in life.....school and home. The school had of course helped me groom my self in to a responsible citizen with some values taught alongside the curriculum. The long schooling came to a close with some high tension board exams.....and i saw myself preparing for yet another breathtaking journey......my college.......the defining days of my life. |
