As a busy court reporter 15 years ago, I was thrust into the computing world, kicking
and screaming all the way. I never dreamed Id one day be an outspoken proponent of the pc; even tutoring and instructing
at our local community college.
Its been my experience the computer either makes our lives far more frustrated, or more vastly enriched. And its my
personal hope to greatly enrich the lives of students by helping them conquer their fears and sharpen their computing skills.
I have the greatest admiration for, particularly, the senior citizens I've had the privilege of instructing through the
Rufty Holmes Senior Center. To step into this arena for the
first time at age 50 to 90-plus must be daunting! Such desire, determination and diligence isawesome! And what a privilege
it is to touch their lives, and to be touched by their kindness and wisdom.
I want to express sincere gratitude to Rose Thomas, a/k/a "Rose's Eclectic Garden,"
for sharing her graphics, knowledge, and support in the creation of this project. Also, one of my students, Betsy
Ellington-Boynton, photographer, for her creative skills (see photo above). There's nothing like great people on your team
to get the job done!
And I want to dedicate this site to:
- My parents, Robert and Beulah Hare
of Granite Falls, NC, whose input has been invaluable in my role as instructor at
Rowan Cabarrus Community College.
They taught me "what not to do" after their own disappointing experience in computer studies at their local community college.
- My sister, Vicki, also an instructor
at RCCC, whose continual encouragement (finally) spurred me into the
Continuing Ed department.
- My sister, Polly, an instructor at
Catawba Valley Community College, who has selflessly shared her knowledge
and highly developed MS Office Suite skills with me, as well as with other of her peers in the workplace and at the college.
- Most importantly this project, as all my major efforts, is dedicated to the
Lord Jesus Christ, the Lover of my soul.
He's the One ever strengthening, encouraging, supporting, and loving me, Who rescued me from a dark pit and placed me on a
glorious mountaintop, and is deserving of my total devotion. To Him be all the glory for any goodness in me.
May this site be a source of encouragement, support and blessing to many.
