| Plumbing Speakers These speakers are easily as good as the speakers that come with most micro systems, despite their very low cost. They need very little amplifier power and are suitable for bedrooms, small surround sound systems or as high quality computer speakers. If you want to make one (1) of them for yourself, you will need to get the following materials: 3" shielded full-range driver 4" PVC elbow 45deg male/female 4" PVC cap female 4" ABS cap female 12"x48" polyester flannel 4 rubber knob feet 10' speaker wire 18 ga. 3/4" masking tape 1/16" solder or thinner #6 x 3/4" pan head screws Since you probably want to make a pair of speakers, get two of each material. You will need the following tools: 3/8" drill 3" hole saw drill bit set soldering pencil wire cutter/stripper screwdriver tape measure knife Start by tying a knot about 1 foot away from one end of the wire. Strip about an inch off the ends. Solder ends closest to the knot to the speaker terminals. Copper (dark) on the big terminal and silver (light) on the little one. Then tin the other set of wire ends so they won't fray when you stick them in your amplifier. Continued on next page... |
