It all started last July, Han Jina could still remember clearly, her heart skips a bit whenever "He" appears. Since then, she had taken much effort to note every single detail of him. The way he walks, the way he sits, the way he gave this special  "blank"  look that made her feel distressed every moment. Han Jina was ten, staying in St Helena's Orphan home since she was five. She had lost her Ap-pa and Uhm-ma in a car accident. Park Sang Ming was twelve years old. This new boy had lost family in a fatal air crash last July.

He always sat at the little woodshed corner at night, silently gazing the arrays of stars, always wondering at the big bright moon. Sometimes, his eyes glistened upon the lights, moist and wet, but he never dropped a tear or so. Han Jina stood there quietly, watching him, secretly. She felt a sense of fear. Fear of approaching him, fear of being called a busybody. She knew he was in pain, yet she couldn' t do anything. This time, she felt this sudden force to go near him. She felt the need to protect him. Each step she took became heavier and heavier, how she wished she could run away, but her inner soul was going against her. Silently, she embraced him tightly. Park Sang Ming was startled. Han Jina said: " Park Sang Ming, please cry, let them flow, just let your tears flow." Soon both of them huddled tightly with tears flowing and flowing. The loss of Ap-pa and Uhm-ma was an unbearable pain for two young children. Han Jina: " Park Sang Ming, will you be my oppa (brother)?". Park Sang Ming wiped away her tears and gave a faint smile. Park Sang Ming said: " From today onwards, I will not let you drop any tears". On that day, they pledged as sworn brother and sister, upon the solemn moon. This was their first promise.
Chapter 1
Since then, they would sit at the woodshed for hours, gazing at the dark beautiful sky. They were always hanging around together, during meals, playing games, reading and drawing. They understood each other perfectly as if they shared a bond. Every day Sang Ming will comb Jina's hair for her, tying it up in a perfect silky pony-tail. Sometimes They would share their pocket money and buy tubs of chocolate ice cream and little tidbits to eat. Han Jina told Sang Ming that she likes purple flowers. Unable to find a purple flower, Sang Ming bought white roses and insert the stalks into a purple solution. The white roses turn into a beautiful light purple roses and he gave it to Jina. Jina gave her sweetest smile and kept every rose that Sang Ming gave her in a box. They even had their names carved on a secret wood corner and they named it, Moon Circle. Suddenly Han Jina asked: "Oppa, will we always be together?" Park San Ming said: "ae, you will always be my sister". Han Jina felt a sense of disappointment. Han Jina gave a forceful smile. She does not want to be his Dong-saeng (younger sister). Han Jina felt a bit sad. Han Jina will record every single event in her precious diary.

That day, Sister Marianne approached her. "Han Jina, im afraid you would have to leave soon, a family from seoul has chosen to adopt you, they have a good background, im sure you will find happiness there" Han Jina was dumbfounded. "but i, i... do not want to leave St Helena, im very happy with my life here". Sister Marianne said: " I'm sorry Jina, it for your own good, St Helena home has no more funds to support you for further studies, and...and... the family has donated 10,000 won to the orphan home. Jina , please think of the little brothers and sisters we have in St Helena. I know its unfair to you, but....i hope you will consider it". Han Jina walked back to her room, drops of tears fell onto the ground.
