          Caution and care with the use of Essential Oils
Essential Oils are highly concentrated substances and it is important to be aware of the usage and follow a few cautionary guidelines to help the user to gain the most from the oils
                    
Safety First: Please read the following before using essential Oils
Essential oils should not be taken orally.
Do not use the following during pregnancy without professional advice: Basil,Cedarwood,Clary Sage, Corriander,Hyssop,Jasmine,Juniper,Marjoram,Oregano,Myrrh,Peppermint which should also be avoided while breast feeding;Rosemary,Sage and Thyme.It is advisable not to use essential oils within the first 4 months of pregnancy.
If you have low blood pressure avoid
Chamomile and Marjoram.
If you have high blood pressure  avoid
Rosemary.
If you suffer from epilepsy avoid
Black Pepper,Clary Sage,Fennel, and Rosemary.
If you have a kidney problems avoid
Black Pepper and Juniper.
If you are going out in the sun avoid
Bergamot,Sweet Orange;Grapefruit;Lemon;Mandarin and Petigrain.Do not at least for 4-6 hours use any of the citrus oils.Citrus oils are most prone to an irritation reaction.
If you are driving or have been drinking do not use
Clary Sage, Marjoram or Ylang Ylang.
It is advisable if you have sensitive skin to do a patch test on yourself to test if the oils will have a reaction on you by rubbing a small amount mixed with a carrier oil onto the inside of your arm.It will only take a few minutes to see if the oil reacts

Storage of Essential Oils:
You should store your oils in dark bottles;(the ones in which they came in)in a cool dark place.(Mine are in a oak chest).If you blend your own oils use dark glass bottles.Oils diluted with a carrier oil should keep for around six months if they are stored in a dark place and if you add vitamin E oil to them which will preserve them,or upto 3 months if vitamin E oil is not added but put in a fridge.(Remember to remove from a fridge plenty of time before use.
If the oils are in their pure state depending on the oil they will last between 9-12 months.Patchuli oil, the only exception will improve with age.
Keep away from children;Keep away from naked flames;Keep away from polished,painted or plastic surfaces. Some oil properties below

CHAMOMILE: Properties Is good for stress,sleeplessness,headaches,rashes,insect bites,burns,cuts,toothache,menstrual or menopausal problems.
GERANIUM: Properties Reducing stress and tension,easing pain,balancing emotions and hormones,PMS,relieve fatigue,and nervous exhaustion,to lift melancholy,lesson fluid retention,repel insects,cuts,bruises,eczema,burns,acne,broken veins,also good for mature or dry skin.
GINGER; Properties Muscular problems,arthritis,rheumatism,poor circulation,coughs,
sore throat,nausea,travel sickness,colds,flu.
GRAPEFRUIT: Properties Stimulate detoxification,relieve muscle fatigue,lift melancholy and to refresh and energize the body
LAVENDER: Properties A universal essential oil used for Skin care,circulation,muscles,joints,
digestive system,immune system,help in sleep,depression,burns,insect bites,
Also safe during pregnacy
SWEET ORANGE: Properties An excellent essential oil for calming children,lethargic or over-tired,sun exposed skin,wrinkles,dull shallow complection.
PATCHOULI: Properties A good antiseptic for minor burns and cracked skin,calming action, aphrodisiac.colds,headaches,nausea,diarrhea,abdominal pains.
