Summer Secrets
Chapter 7
"I'm hungry." JC declared.

"Me too." Summer said with a laugh at his sudden outburst.

"Let's get some food. What do you want?"

"Sushi" She replied with a wide grin.  He looked at her strangely. "You know if you don't want to..." She started and then trailed off.

"No No! We'll go.  I know a good sushi place.  Now my only question is since when do you eat sushi?" JC asked.

"I don't.  I've never tried it and I want to." Summer smiled and got up.  She went to get her shoes and followed JC out to the car.  The ride to the sushi house was fairly quiet and once they got there the place was packed.

"It's a 30 minute wait, but that's ok." JC said walking out of the restaurant to sit next to Summer on one of the benches.

"Ok.  Does this thing like light up when they call you or something?" Summer asked referring to the paging device the hostess had given JC for their wait.

"Yeah, it vibrates too." JC said.

"SUMMER!" JC and Summer both looked up and the sound of the voice.  JC looked at the person who had just called her name.  He was a tall lean man with perfectly spiked dark blonde hair and blue eyes.

"Landon, What are you doing here?" Summer said with her usual smile and shot up to hug the man.  A pang of jealously swept over JC as he watched Summer embrace the man he had only heard good things about.

"I had a dinner meeting with some of my colleagues.  Let me introduce you.  Summer this is Bill Tate and Jessica Ember." Landon said introducing her to a short fat bald man and a very pretty young girl with long brown hair that had specks of gold in it.  The girl seemed a little older than her.

"Nice to meet you." Summer said to the two.  They all shook hands.

"I didn't know you were in Orlando.  Who are you here with?" Landon asked with his sparkling blue eyes darting to JC.

"Oh this is my friend, JC.  JC this is Landon." Summer said with a smile.

"Nice to meet you." JC said and shook the guys hand.

"You too." Landon said and smiled.  His smile was completely flawless, just like everything else about him.

"I'm staying at JC's house for a few weeks. " Summer explained to Landon.  As Summer and Landon talked JC couldn't help but notice Landon was holding her hand.  JC looked at the other two people that were with Landon.  The man, Bill, looked very uninterested, while the girl looked at Summer like she was going to pounce on her.  Before JC could realize it the paging device in his hand began to vibrate.

"Summer."

"Yeah?" She said and turned to him. He held up the flashing little box. "Oh, Landon it was good to see you, but I have to go."

"Ok, It was definitely a pleasure to see you too. It was nice meeting you JC."

"Yeah you too." JC said trying not to sound bitter.

"Call me ok?" Landon said and leant over to kiss Summer on the cheek.  Summer slightly blushed as Landon walked away.  JC couldn't even look at the guy.  He was completely disgusted by how pleasant the man was.

"Are you ready?" Summer asked.

"Yeah, let's go." He said and they both headed into the restaurant.  They quickly were seated and Summer not knowing what to order let JC take over when the waiter came.

"Landon seemed nice." JC said hoping she would say she despised him.

"Yeah, He's really sweet." Summer said, she honestly didn't like Landon like that, but JC just like everyone else approved of him so she just went with it.

They chatted about stupid stuff in life until their sushi arrived.  It was placed on a large platter in front of them.  Summer simply looked at it.

"They look kind of freaky don't they?" Summer said with an uneasy smile.

"Oh come on.  You wanted to try this." He said and put some on a plate in front of her.  He picked up the chopsticks and grabbed one with them.  He put it in his mouth.

"Good?" Summer asked and watched him chew.

"Yeah, try it."

Summer picked up the chopsticks and kind of fumbled with them.

"Did I mention I don't know how to use chopsticks?" Summer said a bit embarrassed.

"That's ok. I'll show you." He said.  "Ok this one goes straight." He explained and showed her the position.  As she tried to do it it did not come out right.  "Let me show you." He said and leant over and grabbed her hands.  He started to put her chopsticks in the position they needed to be.  He was close and she could smell him.  As she looked down she saw that his, those magic, wonderful captivating hands of his were on her own.

"Summer?"

"Huh? Yeah." Summer said and looked up. "Sorry I zoned out."

"Yeah ok you got the position. Now try to pick one up." He instructed.  She attempted in and brought a piece half way to her mouth before it ended up in her lap.  Summer laughed as she picked it up.

"Maybe you should just use your hands." JC suggested.

"Good idea." She said and picked a piece up with two fingers.  She looked at it carefully.

"Dip it in soy sauce.  It tastes better that way." Summer did as she was told she then looked at the soy soaked sushi once again.

"Just eat it!" JC said with a laugh.  Summer placed it in her mouth and chewed.  Once she swallowed it she looked at him.

"Not bad" She said and grabbed another piece.

She had felt the need all week and finally she could do it.  It was 6:00 AM the sun had just come up and she was jogging.  As the wind blew in her hair she felt relaxed.  She didn't have to worry about the tension of being near JC or the guilt when she was with Landon.

Why does JC have to be so sweet all the time? She wondered.  And why does he have to be so completely good looking?! She asked herself.   It figure I fall for the guy that I can't have.  That's how it always happens.  He of course is going to have a beautiful girlfriend and then there's me.  The friend. Ugh!

Summer continued to jog.  It felt good.  Her mind was slowly releasing it tension and so were her muscles.  She contined to jog lightly as she always did.  When she reached a park she stopped and sat down on one of the swings.  The sun was up but it was a bit cloudy which was odd for a summer day.

He probably thinks I'm completely ridiculous.  Summer thought.  I'll probably end up marrying Landon.  I mean isn't that how it always happens.  You never get the man of your dreams.  It just isn't reality.  Summer reasoned.

After sitting in the park for about 10 minutes she decided to head back.  It was almost 7:00 and it would take her 15 minutes to get back.  She fixed her sweaty hair back into another pony tail and began to jog again.  She thought of Landon, JC, his hands, sushi and just about everything else that had occured in that week.  Before she knew it she was at JC's door step.  She looked down at her watch, it was 7:20.

"Hey, you're back." JC said from the couch.

"Oh I didn't know you were awake." Summer said a little out of breath.

"Yeah I heard you leave."

"I'm sorry I didn't mean to wake you." Summer said a little worried.

"It's ok.  Nichole called and she's goin' with all the girls out somewhere and she wanted to know if you wanted to go." JC explained.

"She called at 7:00 in the morning?" Summer asked after she grabbed a bottle of water.

"She calls extra early just to bug me, but I was already awake." JC said. "So do you want to go?"

"Um, yeah sure.  What time?"

"Nichole said like at 10 or something like that." JC said.

"Ok.  Yeah I'll go.  What are you going to do all day?" Summer asked curiously.

"I'm gonna hang out with the guys." He said and reached for the phone.  He quickly dialed Nicholes number.

"Hey... Yeah she said she'd go... ok... ok ... I know!... Ok bye." He said and hung up.  "Yeah 10:00" JC said.

"Okay." Summer said.  "I'm going to go take a shower." She said and turned around.  JC watched her as she walked up the stairs and once again that feeling came over him.  He saw a tiny piece of her back showing behind her shirt and beeds of sweat clinging to the tiny hairs.  He once again got that feeling.  That feeling of wanting her.  Of wanting to touch her and just feel her soft skin underneath his fingers.  He looked over at the TV where "Fairly Odd Parents" was on TV.

"Well that's a mood killer." JC said quietly to himself and changed the channel. (Fairly Odd Parents is a cartoon on Nickelodeon for those who don't know).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The doorbell rang and JC hurried to answer the door.  As soon as the door flung open he was met with Becki's sparkling green eyes.

"Hey Jace, I've come to get your friend and steal her away for the day." Becki explained.

"Ok, SUMMER!" He called.

"Jeez, I'm right behind you.  You don't have to yell." Summer laughed.

"Hey Summer." Becki said with her big smile.

"Hi"

"You guys have fun." JC said and shut the door.  Summer followed Becki in the car.  JC watched from the window as the girl greeted eachother, and then took off.  He then grabbed his keys and went to his car.  He started drivin' to Joey's house.

Once at Joey's house he rang the doorbell and was greeted by Joey wearing fuzzy purple slippers.

"Hey" JC said and looked down at the slippers.

"Hey, come on in"

"I'm not even gonna ask." JC said and laughed referring to the slippers.

They went inside and Joey offered JC the regular manly beverage, Coke.  (LoL that was lame!)  They started to talk.

"So what's up with Summer?" Joey asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean there's somethin' there."

"Yeah, I don't know... I'm really attracted to her.  I see her and I just want her and then I know how wonderful she is and how completely beautiful." JC said and sighed.

"Did you say beautiful?"

"Yeah why?"

"I don't know but Summer isn't exactly a beauty queen.  Not that she's completely tragic, she's pretty but she's no Miss America." Joey said trying to break it to him gently.

"See that's what I used to think, but now I look at her and I think she's gorgeous!" JC exclaimed.

"Oh dude you got it bad!" Joey said.

"What do you mean? I don't got it bad for her!"

"Yeah you do! You're seein' all that inner beauty and shit." Joey said.

"What?"

"Yeah, see, Gracie told me about this it's like that whole physchology thing.  You see what a wonderful person she is and you're in love with her and that creates something in your mind that makes you think she's beautiful."

"Right."

"It's true man! To tell you the truth I really like Summer.  She's nice and sweet and probably the perfect person for you, but I don't think you're realizing that you're in love with her."

"Damn it I know I'm in love with her! That's what I've been trying to say without actually saying it!" JC said frusterated.

"Oh well then what's the problem? Just tell her."

"It's not that simple.  There's this guy, Landon.  And he's like completely perfect for her.  And she's crazy about him.  She thinks of me as her friend not anything else.  And if I told her I would make a complete idiot of myself."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I know Summer.  She likes the guy.  She doesn't want me."

"Maybe you should try to get your mind off her." Joey suggested.

"How?"  JC asked.  Joey scratched his chin softly.

"Have you talked to Erin lately?" He finally asked with a grin.
