Summer Secrets
Chapter 13
"Good morning!" Summer said brightly as she strolled happily into the kitchen.

"Hey" JC with a smile.  Whenever Summer was near him he just couldn't help but smile.

"You know it's weird I don't remember going to bed last night." Summer laughed a bit as she poured herself a glass of orange juice.  "Has that ever happened to you?"

JC looked at her for a while.  "No I can't say it has.  People don't usually carry me to bed though" He grinned.

"Oh, JC why didn't you just wake me up?" She said with her unique laugh.

"You looked like you needed sleep." He explained.

"Right."

"So you're birthday is in a few days huh?" JC said once he glanced at the calendar that hung on the wall.

"Yep, 6 more days.  You wouldn't happen to have whipped cream would you?" Summer asked completely out of the blue.

"Yeah, why?"

"I want whipped cream.  Where is it?"

"In the refrigerator, on the door behind the milk I think." JC explained.  She headed over to the refrigerator and pulled out the whipped cream.  She popped the top off and placed some on her index finger she then licked it off carefully.  His crystal blue eyes followed her every movement and when she licked her lips he couldn't help but lick his own.

"Want some?" Summer offered when she noticed him looking at her.

"Umm no thanks." JC said.  Summer nodded and poured some more on her finger and continued her ritual.

"So what are we doing today?" Summer asked.

"I don't know what do you want to do?" He asked with a smirk.

"I don't know.  What I suggest to do is never any fun.  How about you pick?"

"No, remember the deal was you pick."

"Ok fine.  I pick that you pick whatever we are doing today." She smiled back smartly.

"You're a butt."

"Thank you." She grinned.  "So Mr. Chasez, what's on the agenda for today?"

"Do you want to meet Erin?" He asked after a few moments of thought. Summer coughed loudly as she choked on some orange juice.

"Are you ok?"  He asked alarmed.

"Yeah... Ugh... you know what they say about that Florida orange juice." She covered.

"Right.  So do you want to?"

"Umm yeah sure." Summer said.  Sooner or later she was going to have to meet this porcelain doll that had managed to make her feel more hatred than she had ever experienced.

"Ok well would you want to go to dinner today?" JC asked.

"Um yeah.  Where?"

"I don't know.  Erin likes those kind of fancy restaurants.  Is that ok?"

"Yeah, But I don't have anything to wear." Summer said.  Figures she likes the high roller places! She thought.

"Well we can go get one" He smiled.

"Um ok"

"Go get dressed we're goin' shopping"  He laughed and reached for the phone to call Erin.

"JC this thing is like way too expensive." Summer said as her fingers gingerly caressed $500 the olive dress.

"I'll buy it for you then."

"No, I can't let you do that." Summer argued.

"Why not?"

"Because, that's like five-hundred dollars plus tax on a dress I'll wear like once!"

"Summer, it looks great on you and plus you can use it more than once."

"No.  There is no way I'm buying that." Summer said.

"Ok" JC said.

"I'm thirsty.  Do you want to get a drink?"

"Nah, why don't you go I'll meet you here in a bit."

"Ok" Summer said and headed out toward Starbuck's.  JC watched as she walked out the entrance of the store.  Once she was out of sight he picked up the green dress and headed toward the cash register.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

JC hid the bag behind him as he saw Summer walking toward him holding a coffee drink in one hand.

"Ready to go?"  JC asked.

"Are we not getting a dress anymore?" Summer asked with a hint of disapointment in her voice.

"No, I already got it." He said and held up the large store bag.  Quickly, she snatched the bag from his grasp in complete and utter shock she looked in the bag.

"JC,  why did you buy this?  I could never afford this dress."

"Yeah, that's why I'm giving it to you."

Summer simply looked at him unsure of what to say.  No one had ever spent $500 on her.  For some strange reason she was toungue tied and unable to thank the man standing in front of her.

"Come on." JC urged as he grabbed one of her hands and began to pull her toward one of the exits and to his car.  Still unable to utter a word,  Summer followed him silently.  Once inside the car Summer could actually speak.

"Thank you."

"Don't mention it." He smiled and began to pull out of the parking lot.

"You really didn't have to do this." Summer insisted.

"I know."

"Maybe you should return it, you know it's awfully expensive and..." she trailed off.

"And I have a lot of money." He reasoned. "Plus it's non returnable." He grinned.

Summer glanced at him.  With one look at his grin she couldn't help but smile.  "What time are we going at?"

"6 o'clock" He replied.  Summer glanced at the clock and saw it was 4 o'clock.  "Don't worry.  You still have 2 hours" He laughed.

"Two hours isn't as much as you think you know."

"Whatever."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As her eyes traveled over the mirror pointing out her every flaw there was a knock on the door.

"Come in." Summer called from the bathroom.  JC carefully walked in as not to find her in some various stage of undress.  He peeked in the bathroom to find a very polished Summer applying some lip gloss.

"Hey" She said with a smile without looking up at him.  His eyes were attached to her and her newly radiating beauty.

"You look great." JC said as he watched her lips carefully.

"Thanks" Summer smiled as she shut the lip gloss and looked over at him.

"Are you almost ready?" He asked after tearing his eyes away from her full glossy lips for a moment to complete his task he had entered her presence to complete.

"Yeah." Summer said and then walked past him into the bed room.  "Let's go."

"Ok" JC headed out the door and Summer followed right after him.  She was doing a good job of hiding her nervousness.  She didn't want to meet Erin.  Erin was the enemy.  The one that had taken away the person she was so desperately in love with.  Summer had never honestly hated anyone until Erin.  Deep in her heart she knew the moment that she met her Erin would be a wonderfully sweet girl that was perfect for JC.  She just knew.  That's how things always were.

They stepped out to JC's sports car.  As they drove to Erin's apartment it was relatively quiet.  JC hoped down to get Erin, while Summer moved to the back seat.  Patiently Summer sat in the back seat waiting for her newly found enemy and the love of her life to walk down the cemented pathway.  When it did happen she was hit with shock.  The girl, who she knew was Erin from pictures, was wearing a barely there red tango dress that showed one leg from ankle to thigh and accented every curve in her body.  Her black hair, which Summer had known to be straight, was millions of gorgeous, shiny ringlets that cascaded down her shoulders as she giggled holding JC's finely polished piano hand.  A surge of jealousy rushed through Summer's veins as her eyes beheld this beauty.  She couldn't deny it the woman was beautiful beyond compare.

JC opened the door for lovely green-eyed Erin.  Once they were both seated in the car JC turned and introduced the two.

"Summer this is Erin Beneyi, Erin this is Summer Anderson."

"Nice to meet you." Erin said sweetly through her perfectly full lips.  Her voice was soft and sweet and of course she was nice!

"You too." Summer said with her best smile to please JC and Erin.  JC happily turned back to the wheel and continued driving.  Summer looked at Erin's perfectly circular ringlet curls and then glanced down at her flat black hair.  It was just plain.  Simply and normally just plain.  Like usual, things about her were always plain.  As she looked at Erin without seeming to stare she realized more of what JC wanted in a woman: sweet and beautiful, organized and pleasant.  Of all those things Summer was neither of those.

After the drive, in which Summer did not deliver one sentence they arrived at the restaurant complete with valet parking.  Once seat Summer was forced to look her enemy straight in her emerald eyes.

"Erin is a law student too." JC explained sensing Summer discomfort and trying to relieve it.

"That's good.  Where do you go?" Summer asked referring to school.

"Well I go to the University of Gainsville, but I have an internship at a firm here in Orlando right now."

"Wow.  That must be wonderful." Summer smiled.  Figures! She's smart too! She thought.

"Yes it is." Erin smiled sweetly.  Summer looked down slowly.  She felt as if she were going to burst into tears.

"Excuse me.  I have to use the ladies room." Summer said and slowly got up.  She calmly headed to the bathroom.  JC looked at her concerned as she stood up.  Summer rushed into the bathroom once she was out of sight.  Once she saw there was no one in the stalls she locked the door to the bathroom.  She tried her hardest to hold back the tears, she didn't want to ruin her make up because it would be hard to explain why her make up was all runny.  Summer took a series of short deep breaths.

"This just figures!" She told herself.  "The one guy I want to be with more than anything in this world is with someone that is so completely person it's easy to question whether she's real or not!"

"I have Landon." She whispered to herself although deep inside she knew that wasn't what she wanted.  She didn't want a man that was perfect in every physical way and worked long hours.  Sure he was nice and good looking but they didn't click.  Not like that.

Summer composed herself.  "Wait until you get home.  Then you can cry!" She scolded herself.  She took one more final deep breath and headed out again to face the world of the beauty that was stealing away the love of her life.
