Summer Secrets
Chapter 12
"Hey!" Denise said greeting Becki and Summer as she opened the door to her small house in Orlando.  It was a small yellow house with a door and two windows framing it and a garage on the side.  Summer smiled as she said hello and walked past the door mat that read "Welcome."  The house was simple and small, yet it had a homey ambiance.

As Summer walked past the living rooms, which was decorated in blue and yellow, she was met with the warm aroma of the kitchen and cooking.  Gracie and Nichole were sitting at the table sipping drinks.  They both stood up to greet their friends who had just wanted in the room.

"Oh Summer! You're hair!" Nichole exclaimed.  Summer blushed a bit and smiled weakly.

"It looks good.  You're hair is beautiful.  What made you want to change it?"  Gracie asked with her usual warm motherly smile.

"I've never done anything to my hair.  I just felt like it was time for a little change." Summer explained.

"Well good for you!" Becki said with a smile.

"Dinner's almost ready." Denise announce.

"What did you make?" Becki asked curiously.

"Pasta.  Alfredo."

"Good.  I'm starving."

"Do you like pasta, Summer?"

"Yeah." She replied.

"Good, because Denise makes the best pasta!" Nichole smiled.

"Sit down." Denise said to Summer with a small laugh.  Summer sat down a bit nervously unsure of what to say.  She had never been around these women.  The truth was they were intimidating.

"Summer is an interesting name.  I don't think I had ever met anyone named Summer before."  Nichole said starting a conversation.

"Yeah my parents are weird.  My sister's name is Autumn.  We're seasons.  And then my other sister's name is June." Summer said a tiny bit embarrased.

"That's cool!"  Becki said amazed.

"Sure." Summer said with a small laugh.

"Ok this is ready." Denise stated.  The girls all got up and went to get plates and they all helped set the table.  They sat down at the table once everyone was served and commenced their meal.  Summer felt self concious about eating in front of them.  All these girls could not be bigger than a size 5.  Summer on the other hand was a size 8.  Not that she was fat, she was just bigger than them, and that made a whole lot of difference.

"I hate to ask this, but are you always this quiet?" Nichole asked Summer with a tiny giggle.

"I'm sorry.  I'm just usually quiet around new people.  I haven't known you all for too long." Summer said looking down as she picked at her food.

"That's ok." Gracie said with a smile.

"Well we're just going to have to crack that shell now won't we." Becki grinned. "Now Summer I know you don't want to talk about this, but if we're going to be friends then we are all going to have to be honest with eachother.  Now please tell us, because we're all dying to know.  What's going on with JC?"  Summer laughed outloud at her antics.

"Nothing.  We're friends." She laughed relaxing a bit.

"Are you sure?" Becki grinned.  Summer rolled her eyes.

"Ok you know it.  Just say it." Summer sighed and bit her bottom lip.  Becki gave her a look of question and proceeded to tell them Summer's feeling for JC.

"I knew it!" Gracie exclaimed.

"What do you mean?" Summer asked.

"Well I can tell these things.  I'm a shrink.  Plus I'm just cool like that." Gracie said with a grin painted on her face.

As their dinner continued, Summer was surprised at how much those girls ate.  They were skinny and most likely didn't have any fat deposits other than their boobs, and still they ate like football players.  They talked about everything and anything and by the end of the night the girls knew of Summer's deep love for JC.  Just as she knew the passion they held for their boyfriends.  Their night of talking proved that these four women among her were truly extraordinary.  They were sweet, smart, and beautiful, and unusually enough Summer was no longer intimidated by them.  Although they were gorgeous, she realized that even though they looked different than her they were normal nice girl.

Summer had never had a true real friendship with anyone other than JC.  It felt good to be able to talk to someone about hair or make-up and not worrying about questioning his sexuality after word.

As Summer stepped out of Denise's small yellow home she felt the soft breeze blowing through her newly raven hair.  She smiled at the mere thought of it as she headed toward the car.  She remember JC had told her she was beautiful.

"Did you have fun?" Becki asked once she was seated and buckled in.

"Yes.  Thank you for inviting me.  Today has been one of the best days of my life." Summer said with a genuine smile that glowed with gratitude.

"You're very welcome.  I'm glad we can be friends." Becki smiled and continued to drive.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summer slowly walked in the door of JC's house trying her hardest to not make much noise, for JC could possibly be asleep and she wouldn't want to wake him.  He quietly shut the door.

"Hey Summer." JC said from the couch.

"Oh hey.  I thought you were asleep." Summer smiled.  JC looked at her smiling face and couldn't help but see her beauty and innocence.

"No, I was watching 'The Count of Monte Cristo'.  It just started do you want to watch it with me?" JC offered.

"Yeah, sure.  Just let me slip on some pajamas." Summer smiled and headed up the stairs quickly.  JC watched her as she jogged up the stairs lightly.  He was so lost in thoughts of her that before he knew it she was making her way down the stairs wearing a tank top and pajamas pants with her long black hair coating her shoulders.

Summer went over to the couch and sat next to JC.  She fixed her glasses on her nose before relaxing into the soft cushions.

"Ready?" JC asked.  Summer nodded and he hit the play button.

About an hour into the movie JC felt Summer lean on him and put her head on his shoulder.  He glanced over at her and saw her uncomfortable position.  Gently, he moved her fragile body and placed her head in his lap.  She stirred a bit as he moved her but feel back to sleep.  With her head in his lap he looked at her carefully as she slept, completely forgetting the movie.  JC slowly lifted his hand and began to slowly stroke her silky black hair.  His eyes traced her entire face making a sketch that would stay in him memory forever.  Carefully, he slid off her glasses and slipped them on the coffee table.  Once again his eyes traveled on her face and stopped once they reached her lips.  They were smooth, perfectly round, and had a slight pink tint to them.  One hand, on impulse, reached up.  With a shaking hand, one finger reached for her bottom lips.  The sensation of her lips was magical and with two fingers he gently traced the outline of her lips while she slept.

Her eyes fluttered a little and his hand quickly flung away.  She snuggled closer to the warmth of his body and fell back into a deep sleep.  He looked more closely at her and wondered why it had taken him so long to realize he was in love with her.  To him she was beautiful.  She had a wonderful personality and he trusted her.  Trust had always been important to him.  Summer was the kind of person he could talk to and she would listen.  Even if she didn't have a solution to his problems she would simply listen.  Once again his eyes surveyed her face.  Every feature, freckle, and crease was inscribed in his mind.

For a moment his eyes ventured aways from her face and wandered to the clock, it was 12:30 AM.  He slowly slid out from under her and turned off the television.  Carfully, he slid his arms under her and lifted her sleeping body.  She began to wake up as he headed toward the stairs.

"Go back to sleep" he cooed.  She put her arms around his neck and fell back to sleep with her head on his shoulder.  As he carried her into the room, he layed her gently on the bed.  JC pulled the sheets back and fixed them so she was soon under them.  He flipped the light off and kneeled down next to the bed.  JC leant forward cautiously and kissed her cheek softly.  The tingle of her skin against his lips stayed with him as he got up and headed toward the door.

"Goodnight." He whispered softly, as not to wake her, once he reached the door.  "Sweet dream, beautiful." He looked at her once more.  Just before he closed the door three small words softly escaped his lips:

"I love you."
