| Summer Secrets Chapter 10 |
| The brisk morning sun shone through the great glass window and onto the sleeping body. As the sun reflected on her face her eyes fluttered open to rays of sunshine that pained her eye sight. She slowly rubbed her eyes and opened then slightly until her eye sight was normal. She swung her legs over the side of the bed and stood up. Her bright green eyes looked out the window to the soft clouds that hung far above the house. She smiled at the warmth the sun radiated and headed to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her hair. Once she finished her morning tasks she quickly made the bed she slept in and headed out the door. Once she reached the kitchen Summer saw JC's figure sitting on a barstool reading the newspaper and sipping coffee. "Hey" Summer said in her usual meek voice. "Hey, Were you ok last night?" JC asked and set down the newspaper to be able to look at her. "I was fine. How was your date?" Summer asked as she searched in the refrigerator to hide the sad expression on her face. "It was good. I just realized how much I really like Erin." JC said unsure of what else to say. He honestly did like Erin, she was great. But the feeling he had for Summer could not even compare. "You ugh, You left some food on the counter last night." "Oh yeah. I kind of wasn't hungry anymore." Summer said with a small laugh. "So what does this Erin girl look like?" Summer knew the girl just had to be gorgeous but she wanted to be certain. "Do you want to see a picture or something?" JC asked a bit sarcastically. "Yeah I do. Show me." Summer said with a smile. JC looked at her smile carefully and the way her eyes wrinkles when she smiled. He slowly got up and went to get the picture. When he returned Summer was sitting at the counter picking at some reheated nachos. "Want some?" Summer asked. "Nah I'll pass. Here." He said and handed her a photograph. Summer looked down and saw a beautiful girl with straight jet black hair and eyes like emeralds. Her nose was perfectly shaped while her lips were full and shaped so perfectly the looked like they belonged to a doll. Erin all over looked like a doll! A porcelain doll one very delicately hand crafted. "She's really pretty." Summer said quietly and kept looking at the picture. JC heard a certain tone in her voice he was unsure about. "What's wrong?" He asked and looked straight at her. "Huh? Oh nothing. I was just thinking she looks familiar." Summer lied. "Hmm yeah people say she looks a lot like Charlize Theron only with dark hair." JC said unsure of what to respond. "She looks perfect." Summer said with a fake smile and turned back to the reheated soggy nachos. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Summer can you get that?" JC shouted from the shower as the telephone rang. Summer got up from watching TV on JC's bed and reached for the phone. "Hello?" She answered. "Ugh Yeah, Hi, Is ugh JC there?" A feminine voice asked. "He's in the shower right now. Can I take a message?" Summer said cheerfully. "Yeah Can you tell him Erin called and If he could call me back that would be great." She said with an innocent voice. "Oh Erin yeah I heard about you." Summer said trying to sound nice. "Who is this?" Erin asked completely confused. "It's Summer. I'm JC's best friend." Summer explained. "Oh ok. Well nice talking to you bye." Erin said and hung up. Summer's ear was met with a dial tone. She stared at the phone. "Who was that?" JC asked when he walked out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around his waist. Summer looked at him and couldn't take her eyes off of him. Tiny beads of water rolled down his body as he headed toward the closet. "Uh, Erin" Summer said trying to compose herself. "Oh Ok. Did she say anything?" JC asked with a smile. "Yeah call her back." Summer said and got up. She headed toward the door. "Where are you going?" JC asked as she reached for the door knob. "I'm going to let you get dressed and plus I think I need some fresh air." Summer said, smiled then headed out the door. He watched her as she closed the door and once the door was shut he took a deep breath. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Summer shut the patio door then headed over to the porch swing that hung peacefully. She plopped down and tried her hardest to relax from the never ending stress of being next JC. It had never been like this before. She was always comfortable around him. He always made her feel special and important, but then again, she had never been in love with him. "Erin is gorgeous." She whispered to herself. "That's the kind of girl he wants. Mysterious, with dark hair and sparkling eyes." She sighed weakly and held back the tears, but pretty soon she couldn't hold them back and they started to flow down her cheeks like a never ending faucet. She hugged her knees to her chest and tried her hardest to stop the tears. She heard the door open and she quickly dug her head in her knees, so JC would find her this way. "Summer what's wrong?" He asked softly and sat down next to her. "Nothing." She said in between sniff. "Something's wrong. Talk to me." He said and looked at her carefully as she tried to hide her face even further. Summer thought quickly for an excuse. "I'm just stressed." Summer finally said. "About what?" He asked not taking his eyes off her for a second. Summer looked up and rubbed her reddened eyes. She looked at him and only wanted to cry harder. "It's just everything. My parents and I don't know... I don't want to go to Harvard! I don't want to be a lawyer! I don't want to do anything they want me to do! I want to do what I want to do! I'm sick of making people happy!." Summer said through sobs. After so much time of holding it in she finally let it out. "Did you know I didn't have much fun in High School?" JC simply looked at her. "I went to one football game." She continued. "I never went to parties. I never got drunk! I still to this very day have never gotten drunk! That's pathetic!" Summer exclaimed. "There's nothing wrong with that." JC started. "Yes there is! I never did anything! I've never dyed my hair, I've never pierced anything other than the two holes in my ears. I've never kissed random guys at clubs.I've never done any of that and I want to! I want to walk out of the house in pajamas without my mother yelling at me telling me I'm going to bring shame to our family. I want to do crazy things that people do when they're young. I'm still a virgin damn it and I'm sick of it. I want to do everything." She said through sniffs. JC was unsure of what to say. Instead of saying anything at all he leant over and pulled her in for a tight hug. "Summer..." "JC you don't have to say anything. I just had to get that all out." "Ok so you want to go do stuff?" JC asked. JC let go of her and watched her as she nodded. "Ok, well then we'll start with the easy stuff then." "Like what?" "You'll see." He said and got up. He ran inside and got his keys, he then grabbed her hand and pulled her to the car. "JC I don't have shoes on and I'm wearing pajamas." "That's ok. You said you wanted to go out like this so we're going' somewhere." JC said with a laugh. They drove for a couple of minutes until they got to Wal-Mart. "What are we getting here?" Summer asked. "You said you want to dye your hair right?" "Sure." "Ok then let's get some hair dye." "Are you serious?" Summer asked completely amazed. "Yeah." He took her hand and led her to the section with hair dyes. "Ok what color?" JC asked and looked over at her. Summer thought for a moment. Black, Erin has black hair, He likes black hair. Black. "Black." "Ok Black it is." He said and skimmed to find a good black color. "How's this?" He asked holding up an Herbal Essences brand of hair dye. "Great!" "Ok now. You're always worrying about what you eat. Let's get junk food." He now grabbed her hand before she had a chance to argue and walked her over to the small section that had food. "Wal-Mart has food?" Summer asked. "Wal-Mart has everything." He grinned. After picking out cookies, candy, and just about everything else they could think of he pulled her over to the make-up section. "Ok now you wear earth tones or so I have been told those are called. I don't know what would look good on you because well I'm not gay but we can figure something out." JC said, not knowing Summer's very strong like of make-up. She walked straight over to an area full of eyes shadows and pulled out black, dark green, purple, and gold. "Got it." Summer said. "Oh ok." He said she then walked over and grabbed different shades of lipstick and all other types of make up. "Ok I think that's everything." Summer said. "Alright let's go." JC said and they went to the check out counter. Once everything was paid for they headed to the car. "JC?" "Yeah" "Thank you." "You're very welcome." He said and hugged her as they walked. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
