| Prince Charming Chapter 2 |
| At the rehearsal dinner everyone was sitting at a large table at Macaroni Grill. Madison sat as far away as humanly possible from her mother. The waitor came over to take everyone's order, he walked over and as usual wrote his name, Scott, up side down on the paper covered table. Everyone ordered their food and continued talking. Jaime and Lance were very busy talking away planning their honeymoon, and telling everyone about the house they had just bought in Orlando. Madison was pretending to pay attention when actually she was drawing on the paper over the table with the crayons given to them by the waitor. "Are you guys planning on having kids anytime soon?" Madison asked deciding to join the conversation. "Umm...we don't know yet." Jaime said smiling and looking at lance. Madison could tell that Lance was quiet and didn't talk much. Jaime of course made her thoughts known to the world. "Madison, what do you do? Jaime hasn't told us that much about you" Chris asked wanting to know more about her. "Well I'm a writer I've published two books, but in real life I'm a journalist." Madison was very proud of her job even if her mother wasn't. "Oh there you go talking about your little books again." Gwen said eyeing her daughter she had gotten up to go to the bathroom."When are you going to learn that writing isn't going to get you anywhere." "Hi mom, well apperently it has gotten me somewhere considering, my book was #1 on the new york times best seller list for 2 months, and I'm the youngest editor in the newspaper Orlando suntimes." "Yes deary now you have the touch but soon everyone will get tired of your style and no one will want to read your work." She walked away and went to sit down. Madison sat there speachless she couldn't believe her own mother would say such a thing. Everyone sitting around her at the large table didn't say a word they all looked at her to see what her reaction would be. She turned around tears were brimming her eyes and she took a long drink of her iced tea. How could anyone's mother be so horrible to them? Justin thought she must have serious issues if her mom has done that to her her entire life. Justin couldn't help but stare at her. She seemed to not be affected by it at all. Little did he know that on the inside it was like a stab in the heart to hear those words come out or her mother's mouth. "Well anyway I just moved to Orlando I used to live in Ft. Lauderdale." Madison said trying to change the subject and return to happy times. "Are you staying at Mom and Dad's house tonight or are you going to your new apartment?" Jaime asked wondering if her sister was going to be ok. "I'm staying at Mom and Dad's house I don't have a bed in my apartment yet the stuff hasn't all come in yet." "Oh ok well i'm staying there too so we can talk tonight." They continued their dinner talking about everything and anything other than Gwen. No one could believe she said that she had always seemed so nice, she ususally was but for some reason she didn't love Madison as much as Jaime. Everyone finished their dinner and talked for a while then they decided to leave. Madison drove to her parents house and went straight to her old room and put on pajamas. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ After a stressful night of having to deal with her mother Madison stepped out into the moist Florida air. She had lived in new york, then was transferred to fort Lauderdale, Florida. now she was finally home in orlando. It felt good. She heard the door open she looked up. it was Jaime. "Hey sis what cha doin'?" Jaime asked sitting down on the porch next to her. "Nothing, I'm just thinking." "Penny for your thought." Jaime smiled "Lance is really nice your lucky to have found someone you love. Why can't I have that? I guess that's what everyone wants, you know? Someone who loves them and they love back. Maybe I'm just 'not the marrying type'." Madison smiled as she quote Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind. "Thats not true your prince will come. Mine came now. Yours is probably lost and too stubborn to ask for directions." she joked trying to lighten the mood. "Great so my prince is a stubborn dude who doesn't know where he's going." "Not necessarrily. Don't worry he'll come. Hey, how come you didn't want to be a bride's maid?" jaime asked curiously changing the subject. "I'm really sorry about that but I just wouldn't want to be around Mom that much, and it isn't just that but I hate being there and having to walk down the isle with no one waiting for me at the end, and mom in her mind thinking for me to hurry up because I'm taking up time that could be used admiring you." "So thats why?" "Yeah I guess" "You're crazy, I don't know about you I'm tried I'm going to bed. Goodnight. Love you." "I'm going to stay out here a little longer.Goodnight love you too." "Oh yeah and Madison for what it's worth I know me and Dad are glad your here, it doesn't matter what Mom thinks." She said before she walked in the house and went to bed. Madison sat there for a while and thought about that. |
