| The East Town Street Fair by Noah |
| Alright, I'm going to go quick, because I'm only here for a minute. The East Town Street Fair was cool. Hopefully, this article will be too. I think I'll start by reviewing the PEOPLE there. I tell ya, I saw some damn strange things today. Among them: a guy in drag, a man who looked like Elvis on crack, and assorted punks. Don't you just love Grand Rapids people? I know I do. But you know, I'm being unfair, there were a lot of hot girls there too. Really amazing. Okay, let's just move on to the music. The first band I saw was Heart of Gold. They sucked. They really sucked. They really, really sucked. They... I think you get the picture. Next we have 19 Wheels, the reason I went to the Fair. They had without a doubt the best set. I can't remember the names of most of the songs, but I know the singer took his shirt off during the last one. Actually, their set was not without some measure of irony. One of their songs asks "every once in a while do you have trouble getting it up?" Well, obviously none of them did. In fact, 3 out of 4 members had visible erections, please keep in mind that the 4th member was the drummer. Actually, only Scott had an erection, but I think it's funnier to say 3 out of 4. You know what's even cooler? Not only is 19 Wheels one of the greatest bands around, they're also great people. They gave away free posters, and signed autographs after their set. I got my shirt signed by all of them. Yay. Oh, also, next time I see them, I'm going to try and get the lead singers shirt, get the band members to sign it, and give it away in a contest on the site. Next up was Nectar. I'll admit it, when I saw that 2 of the members were girls, I expected the worst. I was wrong. Nectar did a great set. They were, in a word, sweet. I'm sorry, I really didn't mean to make a pun. Again, I can't remember the names of the songs, but all were awesome. I swear, these girls were like... okay, I don't have a good metaphor, oh well. They were good regardless. I just wish they were selling cd's. Okay, I have to go back to the fair now. And now back to our show. Just finished listening to Mustard Plug. Very tired. They played a great set. Again, I don't know the song names, except for the Beer Song, and the cover they did of Freshman by the Verve Pipe. Their pit was great. The only bad part was my loss of a hat. But who gives a fuck, right? I have other hats. In closing, I would like to thank Jebus that Jori's boyfriend didn't see me. I took a bad enough beating in the pit. |
