About

Pumpkin is a webzine run/written by me, Julie Hunt. I collect all the pictures, write all the articles, and deal with all of the HTML coding that it takes to make a webzine.

So just what is a webzine you ask? Well, lets break it down. A zine is basically a magazine written by one or a very few people expressing their views and opinions. A zine usually is published by that one or few people on a very small scale. A zine normally doesnt have advertisements unless the maker decides to put them in there. I normally call zines personal magazines to explain what they are to people. A webzine is just a zine that happens to be online.

So just what is Pumpkin all about? Pumpkin is a webzine based off of my original zine named Cobweb. Cobweb was a real life zine, as in not on the internet. It was started in the early winter of 2002 when my creative writing teacher assigned zine making as a class project. I made my first issue of Cobweb then, and loved it so much I kept making them even when they werent assignments. Cobweb was normally full of just the random things I felt like writing. It featured articles on religion, epiphanies, short stories, poetry, health, and other such issues. Pumpkin is much the same, though it happens to be on the web. Pumpkin also happens to have a few advertisements in it, and Im not talking about he obnoxious popup windows that geocities (my web host) puts up on my site. I know those things will annoy you, but rest assured, they annoy me too, and will continue to stay there until somebody gives me enough money so afford their services without advertisements. Enough about geocities though. My zine has a few advertisements in it that I put there purposely, because I like the things their advertising. If I like it, rest assured its great, and you should check it out too.

And by the way, Cobweb was my chosen title because it happens to be my favourite word, and because I call all of the random thoughts that cling in my mind and wont leave until I write them Cobwebs. I suppose that would make the rest of my body a huge old mansion with nooks and crannies everywhere. I like that analogy. With a Pumpkin on the doorstep. If you want to know why I chose Pumpkin as the title for my webzine, check out the first issue and youll find out.

Pumpkin needs to be read with an open mind, be forewarned. My writing always expresses my opinions and feelings, and sometimes they arent exactly main stream, or widely accepted. My webzine is meant to inform and to provoke ideas, not to offend anyone. This is just my disclaimer. If you have an extremely closed mind you might not like all of the ideas in my zine. Also, while I am dwelling on sad and boring topics Ill get another thing out of the way. The text in my webzine is not protected in my copy write, but I would ask that everyone show some common decency and not steal any of it. And one more thing, the images on my site are pretty much randomly collected from around the net. I originally meant to site them all, but that got to be too much hassle. If you see one of your images on my site let me know and Ill put a link up.

Now that all that messy stuff is out of the way, feel free to go on and read my zine. Im sure youll find it enjoyable. Please take the time to fill out the feedback form provided at the end of my zine. Every comment I get helps my writing. Also, if you are a writer yourself and wish to write an article or poem for my webzine let me know, I would be happy to host your work.

Happy reading, and may your light shine bright!
