<BGSOUND SRC="lawrence_of_arabia.mid">
NAME: Zafir (means "victorious")

AGE:
6

HEIGHT: 15.3hh

BREED: Sparran Warstallion, Rishada Type

COLOUR: Pitch black, with the irridiscent, metallic sheen that characterises the breed, although this sheen is dark as opposed to gold. Black is considered a very unlucky colour.

LOOKS: Colour is as above; three white socks; is very "typey" ie he displays the characteristic conformation of the Sparran wahorse - strong, clean legs; handsome profile that is mostly straight with a very slight Roman arch to the muzzle; slight ewe-neck; slender; very little hair in mane or tail; strong quarters; high-set tail; alert expression; expressive eyes; athletic build. Also has three white socks, something that is considered lucky.

PERSONALITY: Is a real live-wire. Zafir is fast, agile, bad tempered and very skittish. He's much more changeable than Kedar, while equally beautiful and intelligent, he is perhaps the bolder of the two, while Kedar is the more swift. Zafir is better suited to close quarter fighting for this reason - he isn't afraid to use his hooves and his teeth. Some people would call him insane, and blame it on his black coat. He is deeply attached to Saqr, and Kedar (although he's too tough to admit it) but he is very distrusting of strangers, going out of his way to be snappy, backward and downright nasty. Very much a one-person horse.

BRIEF HISTORY:

Zafir was born under unusual circumstances, as his birth coincided exactly with the birth of  Kedar; the date of his birth was also Saqr's date of birth, right down to the minute. As a black colt, Zafir should have been removed at once to a special, remote compound, but the circumstances of his birth ensured him a life with Saqr (read more about this on Saqr's page).

When he was weaned, Zafir was sent with Kedar to be trained as Riphai mounts. Zafir's duties as a Riphai warhorse involve carrying Saqr out to the flanks where she can use her bow, or charging for close-quarter fighting. if Saqr knows that there will be a charge she will usually choose Zafir as when he's in the thick of battle his meanstreak and overactive nature make him a force to be reckoned with. Kedar might be marginally faster, but Zafir is more vicious.

Zafir now travels with Saqr and her entourage in pursuit of heresy. It's probably best if strangers avoid this surly, skittish stallion.
