Gold? Probably not. Gold is very heavy and does not glow as bright as is shown in the movie. Not to mention Marsellus Wallace cared about the briefcase a lot. Since he is a very wealthy man, it doesn't add up.
It also doesn't add up to Quentin Tariatino's style. He wants you to really think and add up the clues from the movie.
When we first meet Marsellus Wallace he has a bandaid on the back of his neck.
He always has it through the movie.
Also when zoomed in on, it was discovered that the combination to the briefcase was "666." His security code to his house was also "666."
We all know 666 is the sign of the devil, so could this mean it has something to do with the Devil?
You are probably thinking I am nuts but hear me out even more.
Also anyone who looked at the opened briefcase said it was "beautiful." They were also engrossed and often stared at it. Ringo and Jules are the only two shown in the movie who looked inside. Both times there was a bright orange glow coming from the case.
In the Bible, they say if you sell your soul to the Devil, he takes it from your neck. See where the bandaid comes in?
Could Marsellus be the Devil, having the numbers 666 hidden under the bandaid? Possible.
Or did he sell his soul to the Devil? The 3 men who Jules and Vincent shoot in the apartment were the Devils' helpers. Marsellus wanted his soul back and sent Jules and Vincent to buy it back.
So why did he sell his soul? Well Marsellus was a rich and powerful man. Was it because he sold his soul for it?
When Jules and Vincent were not killed by the bullets in the apartment, were they saved by God? Why would God save 2 hit-men?
Simple. They were saving a soul from the Devil. In the process, Jules saves himself by quitting the life. Vincent, on the other hand is killed by Butch as we all remember.
Speaking of Butch, while he is in the bar he orders a pack of Red-Apple Cigarettes. Could this be symbolism for forbidden fruit as in the Adam and Eve story?
With Quentin Tarantino, we will never know for sure. No wonder this movie is still as popular as the day it was released.
Now that's Divine Intervention, indeed.
