MODES GENERAL THEORY
If we look only to the point of wiev of theory,the modes are generated by the major and minor scales.Starting from differents grades we can build scales where the intervals are setting in a different way.
Here are the modes from major scale
Now we can see the melodic minor scale
At least the harmonic minor scale.
This is a theoric way of look at modes.I think it's not right to refer the modes to the generative scale.
Every mode has its typical sound and suggest a particular "colour".
To feel the difference is important play the modes scales starting from the same tonic.
