Psalm 73:26 "My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever."
I have one of those book-marks that has my name on it, the meaning of my name and a Scripture verse to go with my name. The meaning of my name is "brave hearted" and the verse above is the verse to go with my name.
This verse is becoming more and more precious to me as time goes by. Little did I know that my flesh and my "heart" actually would begin to fail on me at such a young age (42-43). In the last twelve months my body has been in the process of failing me....thyroid tumor, arthritis, osteoporosis, broken rib, problems with my feet, car accident/whiplash, sprained ankle and it all finally took it's toll when my "heart" began to fail and I became depressed.
I take comfort in the fact that David, the Psalmist, also became depressed and he wrote about it in the Psalms. "I waited patiently for the Lord; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see it and fear, and shall trust in the Lord."
God is faithful! We just need to wait patiently for Him to work. He will hear us.
He has set my feet upon a rock....the rock of His Word, and He has established my goings. I have a new song and a new outlook on life that I never would have had before, had I not had the experience of being in the horrible pit of depression.
God is the strength of my heart!
