Description
WORLD BACKGROUND
Back when I was a kid, my brother and me had an imaginary world
called Rabbitearth. Stories, created by
word of mouth, formed with two main characters, Peter and Puffie, our two stuffed
rabbits, mainly involving rural area activities. As we got older, the stories about
Rabbitearth became scarce as we moved away from it (Mainly from maturing into
adults)
I always did have a soft spot for rabbits, so it was no big
surprise that I was a fan of Jazz Jackrabbit, a platform game by Epic
Megagames. After see some people start writing stories in the Jazz Jackrabbit
community, and having written a couple of fanfics myself, I became inspired to
write my own story, and Rabbitearth became the best candidate for this.
I retrieved the tale of Rabbitearth from childhood memory, and
recreated a new world for it. Thus, Rabbits
was created.
SETTINGS
In a distant universe, on a Solar System of eleven planets,
Rabbitearth is the third planet from the sun. Though territorial, the rabbits
on Rabbitearth have settled into stable territories. After the rabbits entered
space travel in 2034, the inner planets have since been colonized. Increasing territorial bickering over area
on the other planets caused the almost unanimous voting of the Unified Rabbit
Countries (URC) to form a central government for the planets known as the
Rabbit Colonial Government, or RCG.
The RCG was far from perfect, however. Viewing the other planets as sources of
commodities, the RCG imposed heavy demands on the planet’s natural resources,
while imposing heavy taxes on the import of goods other than supplies into the
planets, crippling the planet’s local economy.
Rabbitearth’s moons have been quiet about this, but Minerva’s populace
has been very vocal about the RCG’s harsh taxation and stripping. Many consider
Minerva to be a political time bomb.
Each of the main planets that have
been colonized has a space station orbiting it.
The stations act as immigration customs, space ship stops, Freight holds
and meeting sites for businessmen. Two
stations so far have been constructed, The “Intercarrot Space Station” orbiting
Rabbitearth and the “WestStar” Space station orbiting Minerva.
After an alien invasion on one of Rabbitearth’s moons in 2090, The
URC decided that the Rabbit Army was to be split into two divisions: The Rabbit
Legion, which guards the colonial planets for the RCG, and the Rabbit Guard,
who is the main defense of Rabbitearth.
The Rabbit Legion is mainly used in pioneering expeditions as a
temporary police force, and to help the police if they need help.
