Ah! The first band TRIP (happy, Banditos? I didn't say TOUR!) of the year and we were off to the super-snazzy city of Seattle, Washington. Not far into the trip, we began talking about teachers and one in particular popped up - Ms. Matern. Now, Ms. Matern is a fine teacher, and I don't mean to insult her in any way by writing this. Anyway, a few select members of our party have had her for various math classes, and all agreed on one thing concerning this teacher...her stance. Yes, Ms. Matern has a very unique way of standing. After a brief demo (courtesy of Cam and Ricky), we all assumed the Matern. We had a grand time doing this the whole entire band TRIP, especially at the EMP (Experience Music Project) in Seattle. There we were able to perform "live" in a rock concert simulation room. We were appropriately named "'Matern'al Instinct." Dodds and Ricky played the piano, Steve played the drums, Ben was the lead singer, Gina played the guitar, and Lisa, me, Cam, and Julie were the backup dancers. We assumed the Matern and danced away while the others sang to "Twist and Shout." The "crowds" screamed for us when we were done. Ever since (during band and on trips) we have assumed the Matern countless times, and have never ceased to enjoy it.
