Her words are a slap in the face for corporate America. I can find myself in every one of her songs.� Berlin Genre: 80�s Pop/Punk. Accomplishment: �Take My Breath Away� #1 hit My favorite album & song: �Pink and Velvet� Voyeur �Terri Nunn was the first Madonna when it came to music and sex. And in my opinion, she did it best. Berlin has survived the 80�s curse as well, their new album is the best Industrial Rock record I have ever heard.� Buffy Sainte-Marie Genre: Folk. Accomplishment: Gave Native Americans a voice. My favorite album & song: �He Lived Alone In Town� Sweet America �Buffy is my Bob Dylan. She would be in his ranks had she been white. Her songs are so powerful, laced in the horrible truths of Native American struggles. My people owe so much to her.� Carlene Carter Genre: Country. Accomplishment: Fell In Love album featured 4 Top40 country hits. My favorite album & song: �Easy From Now On� Fell In Love �I grew up loving Carlene Carter. I Fell In Love is still one of my favorite albums ever. Every song brings back a memory. She is such an amazing songwriter.� Concrete Blonde Genre: Alternative Rock. It can go from a soothing purr to a raucous roar.� Cyndi Lauper Genre: Pop/New Wave. Accomplishment: She�s So Unusual album, 6xPlatinum My favorite album & song: �I Drove All Night� A Night To Remember �She has a black voice. She can wail like nobody�s business. She was never afraid to be herself, no matter how weird that was to people. I play her music when I want to be in a good mood.� Dolly Parton Genre: Country. Accomplishment: Most recognizable country figure in history. My favorite album & song: �Down From Dover� The Essential Dolly One �People often confuse her talent with her appearance. They easily brush her off just because she�s so beautiful. But she is one of the world�s most beloved songwriters. That�s talent.� Emmylou Harris Genre: Country. Accomplishment: Bringing country back to its homegrown roots. My favorite album & song: �Boulder To Birmingham� Quarter Moon In A Ten Cent Town �Emmylou is what country was meant to be, heart and soul. Her songs are so beautiful and her voice has such a emotional force to it.� Fleetwood Mac Genre: Rock. Accomplishment: Rumours, one of the best selling albums of all time My favorite album & song: �Sara� Say You Will �There were three very unique singer/songwriters in the Mac that really made their albums so spirited. From the blues of the original band to the classic work of the Stevie/Lindsey Buckingham era, everything they released remains golden.� Heart Genre: Rock. Accomplishment: Heart album featured 4 top10 singles. My favorite album & song: �City�s Burning� Desire Walks On �Ann and Nancy Wilson are just so beautiful. They really had the rock sound down. Ann�s voice can knock you off your ass without her even breaking a sweat.� Holly Cole Genre: Jazz. Accomplishment: Becoming one of Canada�s most respected musicians. My favorite album & song: �I Told Him My Dog Wouldn�t Run� Temptation �I had a feeling that I would like Holly a lot after seeing her Onion Girl video on MuchMusic one day. I was right. It was kinda like destiny that I came across her. Her voice is so sensual. I love it.� Juice Newton Genre: Country. Accomplishment: �Queen of Hearts� & �Angel of the Morning� cross over success My favorite album & song: �Tell Her No� Juice �Juice really set the pavement for country music having pop appeal. So many acts owe a lot to her for her ability to turn any kind of music into a hit.� Kate Bush Genre: Experimental Alternative. Accomplishment: Music�s most popular experimentalist. My favorite album & song: �There Goes A Tenner� The Dreaming �I like to play Kate Bush�s music when it�s dark out or when it�s Halloween. She had an operatic voice at times and wasn�t afraid to play with it. Her songs have like ten million instruments on them (most I never heard of before) that really gave her a unique sound.� Laura Branigan Genre: 80�s Pop.
