Accomplishment: Over 100 million albums sold, 15 #1 hits My favorite album & song: �If It�s Over� Charmbracelet �Mariah was my first cassette and later, my first CD. She�s like that big sister that you grow up with through good and bad. And that voice! She really has a knack for making great music.� Nicolette Larson Genre: Country/Rock. Accomplishment: �Lotta Love� Top10 hit My favorite album & song: �French Waltz� All Dressed Up and No Place To Go �Nicolette died too young for her fans to really get to know her. All we have are her seven albums to listen to. Her voice is so raw and playful and I just love her so much.� Patti Smith Genre: Poetic Alternative. Accomplishment: �Because the Night� Top20 hit My favorite album & song: �Pissing In A River� Gone Again �Patti is not only one of my favorite musicians but she is also my favorite poet. She is so real it�s scary. She writes with such passion that I can just feel it when I listen to her albums. They�re as close to actual art as I have ever heard. I would hang her songs on my wall if I could.� Rancid Genre: Punk. Accomplishment: Today�s most well known punks. My favorite album & song: �Ruby Soho� �And Out Come of Wolves �Rancid is the newest addition to my collection. But they hit me so hard at first listen that I just fell in love with them. They have a punk sound that could be played on the radio.� Sophie B. Hawkins Genre: Alternative Pop. Accomplishment: �Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover� & �As I Lay Me Down� Top10 . My favorite album & song: �Help Me Breathe� Timbre �Where would I be without Sophie? She talks about loving men and women and everything in between. Timbre is probably the greatest record I have ever come across. She is such a brutally honest songwriter.� Stephen Gately Genre: Pop/Dance. Accomplishment: He was gay AND in Europe�s biggest pop act. My favorite album & song: �Far From My Love� New Beginning �Stephen Gately�s music really did touch me. He has such a nice flowing voice.� Stereophonics Genre: Alternative Rock. Accomplishment: Becoming one of Europe�s best selling rockers. My favorite album & song: �Maybe Tomorrow� Performance and Cocktails �Definitely my favorite band. They have changed my life. Kelly Jones has the best male voice I have ever heard. Scratchy and so smooth at the same time. His vocal on �The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face� made me cry when I heard it. He is already a classic songwriter for me.� Stevie Nicks Genre: Rock. Accomplishment: Arguably the queen of rock. My favorite album & song: �The Planets of Universe� Bella Donna �Bella Donna is one of those classic albums you just cuddle up with like a book. She has such a rocking voice. Her songwriter creates a world that she invites you to live in for three or four minutes. She is my ultimate Goddess of Rock.� Sylvia Genre: Country. Accomplishment: �Nobody� Pop and Rock success. My favorite album & song: �The Boy Gets Around� Just Sylvia �Sylvia�s music always bring me up. I can�t help but sing along to anything she puts out. �The Matador� and �Not Tonight� has practically got my kittens to sing along. I�m surprised she isn�t adored like Crystal Gayle. She had all the workings for greatness.� Tanya Tucker Genre: Country. Accomplishment: The first sex driven country star. My favorite album & song: �A Memory Like I�m Gonna Be� Changes �I grew up with Tanya. I wore out my mom�s tapes so many times she must have re-bought them over and over. Tanya is not like a country star to me, she�s more like a rock star. She has had such an amazing career in music that goes across into any genre. She�s by far my favorite country singer.� Tina Arena Genre: Pop. Accomplishment: Two of Australia�s best selling albums. My favorite album & song: �Love's Funny That Way� In Deep �Tina Arena�s Don�t Ask album will more than likely end up one of the 90�s classic albums. Her voice is so great. She can wail with the best of them and then lull you to sleep. Plus her songs are just so loveable.� Tori Amos Genre: Piano led Alternative. Accomplishment: Made the piano a sexy instrument. My favorite album & song: �Hey Jupiter� Boys For Pele �Tori got me through a lot of hard times in my teenage years. It felt good to have someone there who seemed to be feeling what I felt. I learned piano so I could be just like her. The way she plays it like she�s making love to the keys. It�s so amazing.� |
