The Calm Before the Storm

The fourth season of Puck's World Fantasy Football is fast approaching. This year will include the largest expansion in league history. Four new teams and owners will be starting their quest for the elusive Briban Cup. The new teams are: England Teasers, Baltimore BlueJays, Detroit Drive, and New Horizon Village People.

Both the England Teasers and the Detroit Drive have owners that join the league with previous fantasy football experience. Dave W, of the England Teasers, returns to fantasy football after a couple year hiatus after narrowly failing to win a league championship. Bob (Detroit Drive) joins our league with experience and a distinct drive to build a winning franchise.

The other two teams, Baltimore and New Horizon Village, are new to both this league and fantasy football. Chad, owner of the Baltimore BlueJays, has the great privilage of being coached in the ways of fantasy football by none other than our two time Puck Bowl champion, Jabin of the Seattle Slimy Slugs. T-Biscuit guides the New Horizon Village People while he also learns to do other things like talk and walk. T-Biscuit is hinging on his heredity of Puck Bowl appearances to lead him into squeeking out a victory or two in his inaugural season.

These four teams look to add a new dimension to this league by instilling a higher level of compitition, new rivalries, and a larger range of players starting on a given week. With twelve teams, premium players will be hard to come by and teams will looking for that new diamond in the rough, this year's Priest Holmes and Shaun Alexander.

Looking toward the draft, all twelve of these elite fantasy football franchises look to find just that diamond. Our eight returning teams have combined to keep who they believe to be the top 100 players in our league. With the first pick in this years draft, the Teasers will start the group into finding the next best one hundred and fifty on August 24th at 7:00pm Eastern Time.

A reminder, August 12th is the offseason trading deadline. Any trade must be done before the 12th. Protection Lists are allowed to be modified until August 19th. The current draft board lists all the players currently protected and the current draft order. Those clubs that cannot or are unsure if they can make the draft, may submit pre-draft lists. The next available person, on the pre-draft list, when that owner's turn to draft comes will be drafted for their team. For those that need help in their draft strategy, there is a PWFFL Mock Draft that will be very beneficial.
