News League Leaders History Drafts Rules Home Msg. Board

[01.04.03]

Welcome back! 2002 saw four new teams enter the league and snatched up what was left from the existing eight teams, changing the whole dynamic of the league. Here are the awards based on the 2002 draft.

Lemon Award

The Lemon Award goes to the player that showed such promise as to make a team use a high draft pick on them, only to be unable to perform for them. The Nominees are: DeShaun Foster (RB-WPB) #8, David Terrell (WR-Bal) #14, and Olandis Gary (RB-WPB) #12.

Winner: DeShaun Foster - Running Back, W. Palm Beach Chads

No one in the draft broke the heart of their team more than Foster. W. Palm Beach used the eighth overall selection in the draft to grab Foster only for him to be placed on Injured Reserve after sitting on the NFL bench for most of the season. W. Palm Beach then released Foster so that all future potential this player had for the Chads was lost.

Golden Comb Award

The Golden Comb Award is for the best value pick in the draft. This player was picked up late in the draft and performed better than expected for their team. The Nominees are: Jamel White (RB-GB), Saints (Def-Kal), and Colts (Def-WPB)

Winner: Saints - Defense, Kalamazoo Vikings

Drafted as the second to last defense of the night, the Saints defense was able to score more points than all but three of the available defenses take before them. The Saints also ranked seventh in points scored for all defense in the league.

Bud Grant Award

The last award going out tonight is given to the team with the best draft. This team drafted smart and took players that were able to help their team out during this season. The Nominees for the best draft of 2002 are: Detroit, Rhode Island, Rocko, and Wisconsin

Winner: Rocko Bengals

(Owner, Willa) I won! What did I win? Oh yeah. I drafted Todd Heap. I'm going to draft him again next year too. My Daddy was going to draft Todd Heap but I got him first. (laughs) Do I get a certificate?

That's it everyone! I hope you enjoyed this awards show. I would like to thank everyone for making this season the best we've ever had!
