Boston to Remain a Viking After Trade Talks Break Down An off-season deal which would have sent Kalamazoo Vikings WR David Boston to Detroit is not in the cards for either team. Drive GM Bob and Vikings owner Puck agreed late Friday night to break off talks for Boston, who is expected to post big numbers this year after signing a brand-new contract. "This deal had been bandied about for quite some time," Bob told some of the Detroit beat writers early Saturday morning. "Puck and I had first talked about it a month or so after the Super Bowl, but it didn't look like the deal would get done then, either." Pinter said he and Puck negotiated heavily for about two weeks before the deal finally died."When you have a team like the Vikings, it can be tough to bargain. I just didn't have what they needed." The news from Kalamazoo was in stark contrast from the other side of the state as the Vikings declined all knowledge about a trade publicly. CEO of the Vikings, Puck, stated, "There was no intention of trading Boston. Boston has been a staple on our team since we drafted him in the seventeenth round of the 2000 draft. David's injury probably costed us a chance to win the Bribin Cup, but his play should increase since he moved into his new house on Bronson Blvd." Boston's old house on Patterson street burned down shortly after the Puck Bowl. With his new contract from the Vikings, he was able to purchase the 3000 square foot home on Kalamazoo's south side. Boston was rumored to be headed to Detroit in exchange for Joey Galloway and some high picks in the upcoming PWFFL draft. When asked for comment on possibly moving to Kalamazoo, Galloway tried to be diplomatic. "Mr. Pinter told me that I have nothing to worry about," Galloway said. "He assured me that I will be with the Drive at the start of next season."
Boston refused to speculate about the rumored trade talks, "Until I am told by Mr. Head that I will no longer be wearing purple and gold, I plan on giving it my all every week so we can bring the Bribin Cup back to Kalamazoo."
