What are my expertise and research skills and professional/work experience?
I am an Engineer-Agronomist, trained at the State University of Haiti, in Port-au-Prince, during the period 1978-1982. I also buckled the four years of graduation studies cycle in Economic Sciences at the State University of Haiti, in Port-au-Prince, during the period 1979-1983. Immediately after my formation in these two disciplines, I started to work in the agricultural sector as civil servant of the MARNDR (Ministry for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development in Haiti) and as consultant of nongovernmental development organizations. For the improvement of my training about rural development, I made a course of specialization in Fruit Arboriculture in Tel-Aviv (Israel) in 1987.
After ten years of work in Haiti, I entered to Brazil to make the Course of Master in Agricultural Development at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), during the period 1992-1994. Obtaining the diploma of Master enabled me to reach the Doctorate in Engineering of Production which I made at Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), during the period 1995-1999. My studies were supplemented by a Post-Doctorate in Management of Research and Development (R&D), realized in Montpellier (France), during the year 1999.
My interests expertise and research refer to the management of rural and agroindustrial R&D; rural and agroindustrial administration; and, planning and policies of agricultural and agroindustrial development. My current functions are directed towards the study of agricultural production systems, the evaluation of technology impacts and the analysis of agroindustrial projects.
Thanks to my training in agronomy and economy, I worked as extensionnist with the MARNDR during the period 1982-1992. This function enabled me to improve my knowledge in farm administration and natural resources conservation. In 1999, I was member of a team of research on the agricultural production systems of Pacuí, a zone which is in the Northern Area of Brazil. This research gave me the opportunity of better knowing specificities of family agriculture. Currently, I work in Embrapa (Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation) where I make research in socio-economy, technology transfer, agricultural marketing, agricultural economics and evaluation of economic, social and environmental impacts of technology. I have publications on the agricultural pricing policy, the agricultural development, the food security, the socio-economic analysis of technological change, the analysis of agroindustrial projects and the study of systems of agricultural production.
