I Am a Woman
by Pier Tyler

To music or not to music?

I open the photo album

I am a woman
Looking back at old photographs
Of my family members and friends
I have arrived at this destination

I am a woman, but at times
I like to be a little girl
I've been in and out of storms
I've been talked about and lied on

No, I'm not perfect, I'm human
I can stand tall though I'm 5'3"
I've seen poverty, hurt, and heartaches
Some for no good reason

I've seen poor people give with a big heart
I've seen rich people with so much in turmoil
But through it all
I've seen good outweigh the bad

As a little girl
Running barefeet
On a country dirt road
I've seen love, happiness, sharing, and caring

In the faces of all the people
Who have crossed my path
I've seen it all as a grown woman
Faced with tough decisions

I have made it through
The storm
It was a big one
But, I made it through

Now, I can help someone
To keep the faith
No matter what come, what may,
What they say

When your steps are ordered
You have no fear
Step out on faith
And just believe in your Creator

You know, the one who
Uniquely designed you
Who knew you before conception
And knows your ending

I am a woman
I feel I'm all grown up today
Who knows how I will feel tomorrow
I may feel like a little girl again

I close the photo album
