The first ever Gustafson Reunion was held July 6, 7, & 8, 2001 in Port Wing and Iron River, Wisconsin. The event was held in coordination with the Port Wing Centennial Celebration. The family came from Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Illinois, Michigan, Denmark, and Wisconsin. Many of the clan had never met, some had not seen each other for many, many years. Approximately 120 members of the family came together to share a very special time.
On Friday night we had our first gathering and buffet dinner. Kari Gustafson played the violin and Clen Gustafson played gaitar. They sang the Swedish words to Nicolina. Jerry Gustafson gave a little history of where Ernest and Ida came from in Sweden and some pictures of the area. After a great deal of visiting and catching up, pictures were taken of the whole group and each branch of the family of children from Ernest and Ida.
