1 (a) What do you understand by Fast recovery doide ?
   (b) Compare bridge rectifier with centre tap FW rectifier.
   (c) What is close loop control ?
   (d) What is the function of step-up chopper?
   (e) Give V-I characteristics of SCR.
   (f) Explain free-wheeling period.
   (g) What is pulse width modulution ?
   (h) What is voltage source invertor ?
   (i) What is meant by latching current in SCR ?
   (j) How does the current rating of a triac differ from of an SCR ? Why ?

2. Explain principle of an integral cycle control of a.c. motor.
3. What is the difference between solid state control conventional speed control of d.c. motor ? Explain.
4. Explain briefly the working of single-phase half-wave converter.
5. Give constructional details of triac and its applications.
6. Describe the working principle of induction Heating.

7. A step down d.c. to d.c. converter operates ata a fixed frequency of 100 Hz as shown in figure below;

9. With the help of circuit diagram explain the working of switched mode power supply.
