EC-430 SATELLITE COMMUNICATION (B.Tech 8th Semester,2052) Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 60 NOTE:- This paper consist of Three Sections. Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from Section B and any two questions from Section C Section-A Marks : 20 1 Discuss the following: (a) C/N ratio and its role. (b) Parameters to be considered for the design of downlink. Mention the paprmeters only. (c) Differenc between active and passive satellites. (d) Use of VSAT (e) If the data is to be carried to 1000 KM whether optical fiber or satellite be preffered for communication ? (f) Difference in frequency of transmission for uplink and downlink. (g) Depolarisation. (h) List the applications of satellites. (i) Where and why frequency hopping is used? (j) Origin of satellite communication. Section-B Marks:5 Each 2.(a) Discuss the advantaged of CDMA over TDMA and FDMA. (b) How satellite switched TDMA helps to maintain network synchronization. 3. Discuss the parameters to be considered for the design of the uplinks. 4. Draw and explain the block diagram of earth station synchronization subsystem. 5. What is the concept of random process ?
