EC-430 SATELLITE COMMUNICATIONS (B.Tech 8th Semester, 2063) Time : 3 Hours Maximum Marks : 60 NOTE:- This paper consist of Three Sections. Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from Section B and any two questions from Section C Section-A Marks : 20 1(a) Explain the transponder, forward link and reverse link. (b) Discuss the advantages of MSK(minimum shift keying) . (c) What do you mean by noise figure ? What is its importance? (d) Explain AM/PM conversion. (e) What are the advantages of DAMA ? (f) Name the various paprameters involved in satellite link design. (g) Discuss the orbital aspects of satellite communication. (h) Explain the frame formating used in TDMA. (i) Differentiate between active and passive satellite. (j) Discuss the application of low earth orbit satellite systems. Section-B Marks:5 Each 2. Give the overview of current state of satellite communication system at national level. 3. Draw and explain block diagram of earth station. 4. Discuss the use of satellite for military applications. 5. Explain the working of satellite switched TDMA system. 6.
