Sadie
A $200 reward is offered by Jill Ballinger, whose dog was found Saturday morning in a trash bin with 3 to 4 feet of cooking oil, to find the person who put her there.

The 6-year-old red and white Siberian husky called Sadie is recovering at the hospital for Veterinary Specialists of Northern Colorado.  "I cannot believe anyone would do this," said Ballinger, about her dog. "It  makes me so sick. She's the nicest dog."  She is receiving antibiotics in case she had an infection, and she has signs of pancreatitis, but it's now under control, said Ballinger.

"She was taken . . . about 10 miles away from the house," she said.   "She was thrown into a (trash bin which accepts cooking oil from nearby Lucile Erwin Middle School.) full of old cooking grease. It (the oil) was 3 to 3 1/2 feet deep, and she had been there all night."

At 7 a.m. Saturday, two people riding their bicycles near the trash bin heard Sadie crying and called the Larimer County Humane Society, which sent a rescuer.   Sadie had already  lost her back claws in her struggle to get out. Tests at the vet  hospital showed that Sadie's stomach was filled with oil.  All her fur, except for her head and tail, had to be shaved.

"When we first brought her in, they told me to prepare for the possibility that she might die," said Ballinger. "Now, there's not any  reason she won't make it."

The Larimer County Humane Society is investigating the case, according to Lt. Jerry Toler of the Loveland police.
