Rein

Imagine taking your beloved dog to the groomer. Most of us do this. When it's time to have their nails trimmed, coat trimmed or just a good washing.  Imagine now, getting your dog back from the groomers and hearing that the groomer physically assaulted him. So much in fact that your beloved dog is now quite aggressive and attacks those in close contact.

Not easy to imagine, hard to believe. But believe it. It happened.

Rein, an Irish setter, was brought in to Sharon Piette, a groomer. While in Piettes care, two witnesses claim Piette hit Rein on his head with her open hand a multitude of times. The eyewitnesses said that even after Piette got two muzzles on Rein, she continued to hit him. Its also reported that while this beating took place Piette defiantly said, see what a little thrashing will get you.
Rein became sensitive around his head area and became aggressive, attacking his caretakers. Sadly, Rein was euthanized on May 14.  No question, Sharon Piette killed Rein.

On March 6, 2001, Piette entered a plea of NO CONTEST to a misdemeanor charge of INTENTIONAL mistreatment of animals. No contest.. That means she doesnt deny it!   Her punishment is less than laughable! She was placed on probation for 12 months, fined a small amount of money, ordered to make a donation to a local animal shelter and tocomplete 40 hours of community service. Oh and it gets better. Once this animal abuser fulfills her conditions, her record is clean.

Amazingly enough, this animal abuser is *still* working at the Noahs Ark Boarding and Grooming Kennel, in Menasha, Wisconsin.  There are no licensure requirements for groomers set by the townof Menasha, Winnebago County or the state of Wisconsin.

Every day this woman comes in contact with animals; she holds their life in her hands.

Make your voice heard and contact Winnebago County District Attorney Joseph F. Paulus and demand justice in the name of Rein and every other animal this womans hands touch!
Sharon Piette should have her license suspended, and she should undergo an *extensive* anger management course. If this were a child there would be no argument!

The Honorable Joseph F. Paulus, District Attorney:

I am very upset to learn that Sharon Piette, owner of Noah's Ark Boarding and Grooming in the town of Menasha, received minimal punishment after entering a plea of no contest to a misdemeanor charge of intentional mistreatment of animals.

According to court documents, on September 23, 2000, two witnesses saw Sharon Piette hit Rein, an Irish setter, hard on his head area with her open hand at least 10 times. The eyewitnesses stated
that even after Piette got two muzzles on the dog, she continued to hit the dog before she finished grooming him. Rein became very sensitive around his head area and started to display aggressive tendencies.  On May 14, after attacking one of his caretakers, Rein was euthanized.

I understand that Ms. Piette was placed on probation for 12 months, fined an insignificant amount of money and ordered to make a donation to a local animal shelter, and complete 40 hours of community service. Upon fulfillment of the above terms and conditions, Piette's record will be clean. Even more disturbing is that Ms. Piette is still operating Noah's Ark Boarding and Grooming Kennel.

Animal abuse is a serious crime and has been linked to violence against humans. I request that Ms. Piette's kennel/business license be immediately revoked, and that she receive mandatory psychological counseling, as well as be prohibited from ever owning or harboring animals.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your reply.

Sincerely
