On July 21, 2001, Moses, a six-month-old Rat Terrier mix was shot to death in cold blood. Moses killer gave his reason for the shooting: Moses chased his cows. Lets try to picture this. The size of a Rat Terrier puppy compared to a full-grown cowit is obvious there is more to this story. According to Michelle, Moses' guardian, the dog killer has had a long going feud with Michelle and her family. Apparently, he leases the land that Michelles home is on. Michelle rents the home from the owner of the property. What is truly an outrage here, is what Michelle was told by the police officer, Deputy John Dyson. She was told that "nothing could be done as the dog killer was leasing the land from the owner, and she was only renting a house from the owner". This is just about the most ludicrous thing ever heard of. The dogs murder was committed because the man leasing the land wants to live in the house that is rented by Michelle. It also seems to be apparent that the reason the police wont do anything is because the dog killer's father is a very prominent man in this town. Therefore, this guy can get away with killing beloved pets; he can get away with murder. Please help bring Moses killer to justice! The senseless killing of beloved companions has got to stop; the letters you write will and do help! Please contact any of the following officials in this case. There is no way this man should go unpunished; it should not matter WHO his father is. It is so imperative that we not let this sort of thing continue. If this man had shot a person and killed them, there is no doubt where he would be at this moment. What about Moses' rights? Does anyone have the right to simply snuff out the life of a loving pet because of something as stupid as a feud going on that has nothing to do with the pet? Moses cant stand up for his rights; but from the grave, he silently cries for justice. |

They have really been trying to put an end to it by making the public aware of this kind of crime. They also show pictures of the animals that have been abused and tell how this abuse happened. |
Dear Sheriff Pierson: On July 21, 2001, Moses, a six-month-old Rat Terrier mix was shot to death in cold blood. Moses' killer gave his reason for the shooting: Moses chased his cows. I am unfamiliar with laws outside of my home state; however, I am sure it is illegal to kill another's pet anywhere in this country. Discharging firearms recklessly alone is unlawful most anywhere. It has been written that the shooting actually occurred because of a long standing feud between the dog's family and a neighbor. Whether or not this is true is immaterial. The "Shooter's" standing in the community is also immaterial. Killing a pet is inexcusable, and he should be made to pay criminal and civil damages, as well as undergo psychological testing (which should not be a barrier to prosecution, but in addition to it). Thank you |
