Reference & Help Desk

Reference & Help Desk

Reference and information services are provided by all the libraries in the system. Enquiries may be made in person, over the telephone, by fax, and through email. The library also maintains Reference Desks manned by competent staff to assist users with their information needs at every level of the library. Students and will be taught search strategies in information retrieval. This is one of the way to help them retrieve from and electronic sources, and to evaluate information from the sources. Students and staffs will also be shown how to access and search the electronic databases such as the online journals. The Information Services Department consists of friendly Librarians who provide expert help in finding information, both in PTAR and on the Internet. The Librarians will assist users in using the reference collection such as books, online catalogue, computerized databases, and web pages. The Librarians also assist with any type of need such as class research assignments.

IT Corner

The Library provides IT facilities to enable readers to consult our electronic resources, catalogues, and image collections, to use of word-processing and spreadsheet software, and for general internet and e-mail access. During semeter IT Facilities are open 7 days a week and open monday to friday during semester break. Most general facilities are concentrated in the IT Centre with 39 computers.The Library's IT Centre provides a dedicated room in which users can use PCs. These PCs have access to all the Library's electronic resources, the internet and Microsoft office. PC workstations shut down 15 minutes before library closing time.

FINES for late returning of books :

Fines will be charged to the borrower RM0.20 sen per day/per book. Please pay your fines at the respective library counters. The library may block your account if you have accumulated fines of RM5.00 or more.
