On My Mind

Stranded in the middle of the desert
in the middle of nowhere, or so it seems
a view as far as the eye can see
i watch the sun fade behind the mountains
the sky changes colors before my eyes
i see a blue sky fade into a mixture of colors
a blend of pinks, oranges, purples, and blues
it is a beautiful sight, almost perfect
after the sun is gone and the stars are out
the sky looks like it has been decorated with diamonds
i go to lay down in the bed i have made
and i stare into space pondering
is she looking at the same stars i am
the sights i have just seen are beautiful
an immaculate display of stars and an array of color
but nothing can compare with the beauty
the glorious sight of one woman on this earth
Her image begins to appear in my mind
she is like a bright red rose that is in full blossom
the brilliant red resembling her beautiful smile
a stem of green is the peace she brings to me
hours and hours go by and i lie awake
images of she and i together forever
how we would laugh and work as one
play with and kiss each other, never ending fun
working through hard tims and

cheering the other up, wouldn't it be nice
now the stars begin to fade
and the midnight blue sky lightens
i sit up and watch the mountains again
the blue fades to violet, pink, and orange
as the sun begins to peek over the mountains
i am reminded once again as i am blinded
blinded by the sun as i am to see her smile
and feel her love flowing through my veins
the sun has now cleared over the mountains
and is now floating in the sky with ease
like i do every day knowing she loves me
i get up and get dressed for the day
another days work with her on my mind
is a man allowed to be this happy
i will ask her next time i get a chance
as for now, i will remain happy
for i know who i love and who loves me.
