Lot & His Daughters
Lot was afraid to dwell in Zoar, so he went up to the hills and dwelt in a cave with his two daughters. "Our father is old," the first-born daughter said to the younger, "and there is not a man to come in to us after the manner of all the earth. Let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve offspring through him." So they made their father drink wine that night, and the first-born went in, and lay with him; he did not know when she lay down or when she arose. The next night they made their father drink wine also, and they younger arose, and lay with him. Thus both the daughters of Lot were with child by their father. The first-born bore a son, and called him Moab; he is the father of the Moabites to this day. The younger also bore a son, and called him Ben-ammi; he is the father of the Ammonites to this day. -- Genesis 19:30-38 |

Noah was the first tiller of the soil. He planted a vineyard, drank of the wine, became drunk, and lay uncovered in his tent. Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers. Shem and Japheth laid a garment upon both their shoulders, walked backward, their faces turned away, and covered the nakedness of their father. When Noah awoke from his wine and knew what his youngest son had done to him, he said, "Cursed be Canaan; a slave shall he be to his brothers. Blessed by the LORD my God be Shem, and let Canaan be his slave. God enlarge Japheth, and let Canaan be his slave." After the flood Noah lived three hundred and fifty years, and all his days were nine hundred and fifty years. From the families of his sons the nations spread abroad on the earth after the flood. -- Genesis 9:20-29
