Five Times The Evil
First there were scans, now a press release. RE5 is officialy official.

Resident Evil 4 on Nintendo's Gamecube console has gotten critical acclaim from just about every source imaginable. Capcom made one of the freshest games in the series history and changed the stale mechanics into an action-packed affair. So it's only right that another game be made.

Japan's Famitsu magazine released scans this week of Resident Evil 5, and claimed that the game will be made for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Well if there were any doubts about the game's legitimacy, Capcom quelled those doubts with a press release today. It said, in part: "Utilizing the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360's unprecedented power, Resident Evil 5 promises to revolutionize the series by delivering an unbelieveable level of detail, realism, and control. Resident Evil 5 is certain to bring new fans to the series while expanding the world of video game entertainment to new heights."

Bold claims? Perhaps. But from what we can tell, the zombies have returned as your character's foes and that the main setting appears to be a desert city. Speculation has said that the main character is series vet Chris Redfield, seeing as the team working on RE5 is comprised of many of the original game's staff. Screens show that Resident Evil 4's over-the-shoulder camera system will be retained in part five, much to the delight of fans.

Stay tuned in case further details on Resident Evil 5 are reveiled. For those gamers still waiting to play Resident Evil 4, that game will come to the PS2 in Winter 2005.
