The Atkins Diet

Weight Watchers
Plan based on everyday real foods calculated with a tool to figure a specific points value based on fat, calories and fiber content.  User gets a daily point or range (depending on plan version) and they goal is to fall somewhere in range, neither above or below (theory is body will see itself as starving and hold onto fat).  Exercize, balance of food groups and adequate water intake are all encouraged. *New --WW also introduced its Core plan which is a bit different.  Core allows you to eat a fairly unlimited amount of certain foods, while other foods you have to keep track of and only eat a certain number of each week.

South Beach Diet
(reviewed by Nissa) I found a really helpful website that tells you exactly how to do it/what to eat, and I did order a book that has info about tons of different foods. It is really just the way we should all be eating all of the time, except for the first two weeks, which are almost No Carb so your body can "cleanse" itself and change the way it reacts to food (namely storing fat). It focuses on eating lots of vegetables, lean proteins (meat, cheese, nuts, eggs), low-glycemic fruits, whole grain carbs and eating starches, good fats (oils) and consuming sweets and processed starches/grains sparingly. Once you're in the maintenance phase, you're pretty much just following the Food Guide Pyramid. I really love it! It's not easy, but I really do feel much better, and the rapid weight loss in the first phase really spurred me on!

NutraSystem
Plan based around their special foods.  Was very popular in the 80's and early 90's, then disappeared from the scene but has just recently re-emerged with a whole new ad campaign.  Not sure if it's a revamped plan or what, though. --provided by Steph

The Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Clubs
(UK) "We follow a 5% or less fat rule with a specific calorie intake (depending on weight and height). Also at least three half hours of areobic exercise a week." -- provided by Abi
