His weapon of choice is playing cards, which have become his trademark. It is interesting to note that in his earliest appearances Gambit charged objects with his eyes, later using his hands to do so. It is supposed that the latter is easier for him do. Also of interest is the apparent 'charm' or 'psionic' power, whether this is real or not is open to conjecture. However there was very strong evidence in his earlier appearances for example he charmed a number of people including the powerful External Candra. This charming power is characterised by the person in question becoming almost hyponitised and most suggestive. Gambit seems able to block telepaths as powerful as Professor X, and the Shadow King. This power seems to be linked to his kinetic power as he blocked Prof. X when charging his card. This particularl link maybe unconcious though he once blocked Pyslocke from scanning his mind through the telepathic plane, which is most unusual. Other Info: A few years ago, Gambit came into contact with an entity known as the New Sun and in working for him Gambit ended up in the past. In order for him to return he had to visit the Sinister of the past and reactivate his full powers. These powers were emense, enabling him to touch Rogue (due to a 'shield' of power that had formed around him) and charge animate objects easily and project his charging ability in a blast. In a face of with the New Sun (who turned out to be an alternate version of himself) Gambit lost these powers. Current Info: At the present time Gambit has lost his powers (having spent no small amount of time acting as a Gate Way) and is not currently with any X-Team. One hopes he spending much of his time with Rogue. |
