The first day of deer season my hunting partner and I each bagged a doe. The second day out I got a doe and he got a coyote.

There I am with my doe and a little later we picked up the coyote. There are lots of things to watch out for out there including tree climbing scorpions.

Here is a shot of the final goal. Butchered up deer meat for the year. Here I am taking the back strap and wrapping with thick cut bacon held in place with tooth picks. I then cut the meat between the bacon strips to make the filets that I first wrap in clinging cellophane film and then with extra heavy aluminum foil.

Deer Hunt 2001

I got three deer on opening day this season. My first one I walked up on on the way to the stand. I downed it and dragged it out of the way. I returned to where I left my video camera and equipment and a doe walked up on me. I let her pass by. I waited a few minutes before heading on to my stand but a flock of turkies came up to within ten feet of me. I video taped them but otherwise couldn't move. Later a six point buck came by and left without me getting a clear shot. He returned and I downed him. That evening at another stand I got a doe. I took my video camera this year and can't transfer any images as yet. I have one photo here of the six point buck but that is all for now.
