LIBRARY WISH LIST

We need parents to help in the school library!

We have a wonderful facility with over 12,000 books, periodicals and videos, and we have a fantastic group of parent volunteers who are keeping this room open for every school day. But we need more volunteers!

Can you give us three hours of your time, one day a week until June? Its a great opportunity to get directly involved in the education of your child, and the entire student family.

Heres whats going on in Room 408:

  • Pre-K students have a weekly story hour for interested parents and their children.

  • 1st and 2nd grade classes visit to learn library skills, and to choose books for their own enjoyment.

  • 3rd grade classes research social studies subjects, and use the library to present plays and poetry theyve written.

  • 4th and 5th graders come in for independent research, use the library over their lunch hour for their own enjoyment, and weve had publishing parties for classes as they finish major writing projects.

All of this is only possible with parent volunteers.

If youd like to help, want to know more, or just want to visit — please stop by the library any day during school hours, or call Jim Harker at 212/967-0697. You can email him at: [email protected]

    DONATIONS NEEDED

    Contemporary Fiction

If youd like to donate a chapter book (3rd to 5th grade reading level) that would be great!

If your child loves to read it, thats a book we want on our shelves.

Harry Potter series and Series of Unfortunate Events are now very well-stocked, thanks to previous donations from PS 11 familes.

    Biographies

For ALL reading levels, and particularly of contemporary figures (i.e. sports figures, pop stars, explorers).

Non-Fiction books about different peoples and cultures!

Would you like to donate a book about the country or culture that your ancestors are from?
