The True Nest of Clan Jade Falcon
Note some links are not working yet

Procedure

As a member of Clan Jade Falcon there are certain rules you must be made aware of, they will be detailed in entirety on this page, from how to conduct yourself as an officer to proper dress uniform and the correct way to report battles at Falcon wars and the various Trials by Combat by which your status within the Clan is measured. This section is subject to change and it is advisable you keep current.

Ranks of Jade Falcon

Khan and saKhan -- JF9_Callsign
The Khans lead Jade Falcon in every respect. Their word is final. They are responsible for 'mech placements on planets and internal runnings of the Clan. The saKhan is the junior Khan, and acts as an assistant to the Khan. These are the chief administrators and diplomats of the Clan.

Galaxy Commander -- JF8_Callsign
The Galaxy Commander oversees internal running of Jade Falcon and insures that Falcon troops remain disciplined and orderly, train the Star Colonels in basic administration and see to it that they train their subordinates well, send out Battle Reminders via e-mail and maintain the roster.  They are expected to be able to act as Battle Commanders for a given war if need be, and must be intimate with the rules of the leagues in which Jade Falcon is a member.

Star Colonel -- JF7_Callsign (Detached)
Star Colonel -- JF6_Callsign (Attached)
There are two types of Star Colonel, attached and detached. Attached Star Colonels command a Cluster of troops, and there are three Clusters to a Galaxy. These officers are expected to train their warriors and compete with neighboring Clusters for undisputed best combat prowess. They are expected to be able to act as Battle Commanders for a given war if need be, and must be intimate with the rules of the leagues in which Jade Falcon is a member. Star Colonels are to report progress of the Clan on a regular basis to the Galaxy Commander.

Detached Star Colonels hold other responsibilities. They might be connected to the Keshik Cluster, in which they act as advisor to the Khans, they might be the Loremaster or Oathmaster of the Clan. The Loremaster is the Star Colonel primarily responsible for the upkeep of the Jade Falcon Clan Hall, the Oathmaster oversees all major Falcon Trials, and acts as a judge, witness and host (and thus must have a high speed Internet connection).

Star Captain -- JF5_Callsign (Detached)
Star Captain -- JF4_Callsign (Attached)
Star Captains command the three MechWarriors in their star and are expected to lead them in battles, they also command the Star Commander assigned to them, and are indirectly responsible for the three MechWarriors attached to that pilot. They must see to it that these pilots are well trained and have a working knowledge of the rules of the leagues in which Jade Falcon is a member. They must study battle tactics, 'mech configurations, maps and terrain, and generally specialize in all forms of warfare as well as warfare in an arena-side, leadership capacity. He is to report his progress to his Star Colonel.

Detached Star Captains can hold the rank of Falconer Commander, who is responsible for recruiting cadets into the fold, teaching them the rudiments of combat, and overseeing the Tuesday and Thursday training sessions, as well as training cadets on a personal level until they feel cadets are ready for their Trial of Position, at which point the Oathmaster is contacted and a Trial scheduled.

Star Commander -- JF3_Callsign (Detached)
Star Commander -- JF2_Callsign (Attached)
A Star Commander oversees himself and the three MechWarriors attached to his Star. He is to train the members of his Star in combat and insure they can fight in a variety of 'mechs under a variety of conditions, he is also expected to lead these pilots in actual missions and must work extensively with clear communications in battlefield applications. He is to report his progress to his Star Captain.

Detatched Star Commanders can hold the rank of Falconer and act as an assistant to the Falconer Commander. See Star Captain.

MechWarrior -- JF1_Callsign
The backbone of the Falcon Touman, MechWarriors make up the bulk of the fighting force and need only concentrate on bettering themselves in combat, following orders and knowing the basics of the league rules in which Jade Falcon is a member.

Cadet -- JF0_Callsign
Cadets are recruited by the Falconer or Falconer Commander and assigned to the Ironhold Cluster, whereupon they receive training. When felt ready to advance, Cadets are given a Trial of Position. If they succeed they become MechWarriors, if they fail, they may try again another day.

Trials of Jade Falcon
Trial of Position

Cadet to Mechwarrior
The Cadet, upon permission from his/her Falconer, may attempt his Trial of Position for the rank of MechWarrior. The Trialee selects the mission (map), and may pilot any 'mech up to 75 tons.. Officer 1 is to pilot a Shadow Cat, and once destroyed the Trialee must challenge Officer 2, who may pilot a 65t, 70t or 75t 'mech at the Officer's discretion.   If the Cadet is feeling lucky, he/she may engage Officer 3, who will be piloting either a Mad Cat Mark II, or a Dire Wolf.  If he/she is successful in destroying the 3rd Officer, then he/she will be granted the rank of Star Commander.  It is recommended that the second Officer does not exceed the weight of the Trialee, unless he has chosen to pilot a Light or Medium mech. NOTE : Only 1 person has been able to destroy all 3 Officers.

MechWarrior to Star Commander
The MechWarrior, with permission from the Oathmaster, will attempt a Trial of Position for the rank of Star Commander.  The Trialee gets to select the mission (map), and may pilot and Clan mech up to a maximum of 70 tons. Officer 1 will pilot a Shadow Cat, and once he/she is destroyed, the Trialee will challenge the 2nd Officer, who will be in a mech from 65t, 70t, 75t, at the Officers discretion.  If the Trialee is successful in destroying the first 2 Officers, he/she may then, if he wishes, to engage the 3rd Officer, who will be piloting either a Mad Cat Mark II, or a Dire Wolf.  If the 3rd Officer is destroyed, the MechWarrior will be awarded the rank of Star Captain.

Star Commander to Star Captain
The Star Commander, with permission from the Oathmaster, will attempt a Trial of Position for the rank of Star Captain.  The Trialee will pick the mission, and my pilot any mech up to 65 tons in weight.  The 1st Officer may pilot a mech up to 60 tons in weight.   After he/she is destroyed, the Trialee will challenge the 2nd Officer, who may pilot a mech up to 95tons in weight.  If the Trialee destroys the 2nd Officer, they may challenge the 3rd Officer who will be piloting a Dire Wolf.  If all 3 Officers are destroyed, then the Star Commander will be given the rank of Star Colonel.

Star Captian to Star Colonel
The Star Captian, with permission from the Oathmaster, will attempt a Trail of Position for the rank of Star Colonel.  The Trialee will select the mission, and may pilot any mech up to 60 tons in weight.  The 1st Officer may pilot any mech up to 70 tons in weight.  After the 1st Officer is destroyed, the Trialee shall challenge the 2nd Officer, who may pilot any mech up to 100tons in weight.  This Trail ends here, for no rank higher than Star Colonel may be trailed for.  However, with exceptional performance on the battlefield, and by showing loyalty to the clan, the Khan can nominate a person, regardless of rank, for a higher position in the Touman.  The Keshik will decide if this should go through, and if the person in question accepts the responsibilities of the new rank, he may assume his new role in the Touman.

Trial of Bloodright

The Trial of Bloodright is used when warriors wish to acquire a Bloodname.   Bloodname's have great honor and prestige attached to them.  At least 3 warriors will have to want one, in order for a Trial of Bloodright to take place.  If 3 warriors wish a Bloodname, there is only 1 requirement, and that is the Warrior must have a minimum rank of MechWarrior.  Each warrior wishing a Bloodname, will engage an Officer, who already has a Bloodname.  If only one warrior successfully destroys his opponent, then he will gain the Bloodname that we wants.  If 2 warriors defeated their opponents, then they square off, and the winner picks his Bloodname.  If all 3 destroyed their opponents, then the Warrior with the least amount of damage will get a pass, and the other 2 warriors fight.  The winner and the warrior who got the pass, will both respawn, and engage.  The winner taking the Bloodname of his/her choice.   If 4 warriors wish to acquire Bloodnames, then there are 2 ways to do it.  The Keshik and Oathmaster both have to agree that either, 1 or 2 Bloodnames will be given out.
If only 1 Bloodname is to be given out, then the warriors pair off, and engage each other.   The 2 winners then engage, and the winner of that duel will receive the Bloodname of his/her choice.
If 2 Bloodnames are going to be given out, then the procedure directly above.  Once one Bloodname has been given out, then the remaining 3 use the procedure list above that 3 warriors use to acquire Bloodnames.

Trial of Grievance

Trials of Grievance settle matters of honor. Because this Trial usually involves a charge of dishonorable conduct against another Clan warrior, the Clan Council usually supervises it.  Strict rules govern Trials of Grievance to make sure the fight is evenly matched. Warriors of equal rank (and therefore supposedly equal skill) can fight in similar machines. Losing a Trial of Grievance often brings with it a taint difficult to erase; often, the losing warrior cannot be nominated for a Bloodname until the stain on his or her honor is purged. Not all Trials of Grievance are matters for the councils' attention, however. Cadets may declare a Trial of Grievance, to be settled in a quickly arranged Circle of Equals under the supervision of a training officer. Some warriors of lesser stature may waive their right to Council supervision, using the bidding process to determine equal ground.

Trial of Possession

This Trial is the most common Trial used in the Astral Dominion League. It is used to decide anything from a difference of opinion or claims over a warrior's DNA, to entire Planets. It always begins with a Batchall when it occurs between Clans, and the bidding is often spirited. Combat rarely exceeds Cluster-scale engagements, except in the case of a Planetary Assault.  This Trial will be the form in which all Clan Teams will conduct Planetary Assaults against other Clan Teams. Loss of honor is associated with the loss of a Trial of Possession.

Trial of Refusal

When matters are settled by a political decision abhorrent to one party, or when an order does not sit well with warriors serving under the commander who gave it, the aggrieved party may demand a Trial of Refusal. This Trial will force those in positions of Leadership to defend their decisions in combat, there by preventing abuses of power. Except in the case of a subordinate officer declaring a Trial against an order, vote tallies set the odds in a Trial of Refusal. Bidding tends to lower the odds, however.   If a Trial of Refusal is declared, the Mech assets used and lost will be deducted from that Teams Touman.

Trial of Annihilation

This Trial, by far the most severe punishment designed by Nicholas Kerensky, is meted out only by Clan Council for internal crimes and by the Grand Council for crimes that affect the Clans as a whole. Individual warriors, Mech Sub-Units and entire Bloodnames are all viable targets for a Trial of Annihilation. The Not-Named Clan perished long ago in such a Trial, in one of the most traumatic moments of Clan history. It is a testament to Clan justice that a Trial of Annihilation has never been declared for anything less than the most heinous crimes against Clan society.
