It's the time of the year we've been
eagerly waiting for
- the monsoon. The rain also bringgs with it dirt, disease and disarray.
Watch out for some health hazards.
It's cleanliness and
eating habits
that are the two main factors we need to keep in mind. Be careful
malaria and diarrhoeal diseases are very common in rainy season. Also,
we need to pay closer attention to our eating habits. We have to keep
in mind the following tips:
- Drinking
Water: Use safe drinking water. Purify drinking
water by boiling it, filtering it or using a water purifier and store
it in a closed vessel. But make sure the water is not stored for too
many days as there are greater chances of contamination. And remember
drinking six to eight glasses of water will flush out all the toxins
from your system.
- Eating From
Outside: We need to be particularly careful about
what we
eat from outside and from where (should be neat and clean place). Avoid
eating cut fruits, chaat or drinking juice from roadside
vendors. We do not know how and when they were cooked or what kind of
water was used in their preparation. As a result, these could be highly
infectious and we may land up with gastro intestinal diseases like
diarrhoea, typhoid, jaundice etc.
- Limit Fried Foods: While having fried food such as pakoras, bread rolls
etc. keep
in mind two things: first, avoid eating them from outside and second,
restrict their intake even at home. Pakoras are highly
fattening and will result in unnecessary addition
of calories, without giving you proper nutrition.
